Ovia by Andre Santhomas
Genre: BDSM, Fantasy, erotica, f/f interaction
Length: Novella
TBR Reviewer: Brutally Honest
Rating: 4 Stars – Recommended Read
Heat: 5 Handcuffs – Orgasmic.

We are once again in the Realm of Janos. This time it is Ovia going up for a master. She is not yet completed with her training but the council has picked her and she’s feeling quiet nervous. Will her master approve or will she be rejected?

This is the second in the series. The first was a hit and I was very excited to read ovia’s story. This was a little rough when it came to editing. By the way, the word chewing is not sexy when it comes to body parts...at all. There was still that lack of balance with sex vs. story. Too much sex!  Ovia was an interesting character and very well written. As with the last book, the submission is freaking fabulous and the relationship growing between slave and master is skillfully portrayed. There’s an intricate dance and story about the history of this world. It was really rather interesting and of course, arousing.

As with the first book, if you’re not into submissive women do not read this. If you have an open mind, go for it. Ovia is a very sensual novel that added to the enjoyment of a unique series.

Aristeia - Revolutionary Right by Wayne Basta
Genre:- Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Length:- Novel
Reviewer:- Kim
This is the story of Maarkean during the course of a smuggling job his ship is almost stolen and the Alliance is alerted. His sister and two of the perpetrators are arrested and sent to prison. Determined to break his sister out of prison, he enlists the help of the leader of the gang that tried to steal his ship and some other nefarious types. They succeed in breaking everyone out of the prison and relocating them to other worlds. Now wanted by the Alliance and the person who gave him the smuggling job, he has no option but to go underground. During a meeting of Congress it is decided that he should now lead a war against the Alliance. Can he put his principles aside and rise to the occasion?

I thoroughly enjoyed Aristeia. The characters were well rounded and the different races well described. It was so good in fact I almost felt like I was watching an episode of Star Trek. The pace was good and there was plenty of action, particularly at the end, which was especially climactic. I do have one criticism though and that is that when the author switched from different points of view, there was no paragraph break. It made things confusing at times and I had to go back a couple of times just to keep track of which character was which. This was only minor  though and I would still encourage sci-fi lovers to give it a go.

The Cat The Vampire Dragged In by Astrid Cooper
Novel
Paranormal, Romance, M/M
TBR Reviewer: Brutally Honest
I didn’t realize this was a stand alone in the series. I think if I would have read the entire series the beginning would have been better. As is, without reading the others in the series, the beginning is confusing. All the characters and with such lengthy introductions, it hinders the flow. Throughout the book there are some editing issues that stand out and some scene are jumpy. That’s the only reason it didn’t get five stars.

Jaidyn was a great character and once he met the tortured cat shifter Leydan, the story
picks up. Hell, it gets downright entertaining! I love the leopard spots around his privates, sexy and unique. This story had such fantastic characters and world building. The ending was a fantastic mix of adventure and romance.

The Cat the Vampire Dragged in is a solid four stars that I definitely recommend
reading!

The Dark Breeds are all the paranormal creatures that humanity have considered myths: vampires, shifters, Atlanteans, Mers, etc. that have now been "outed" to the population at large. Within the larger culture of Dark Breeds there seem to be two sub-groups: one, mostly called Ferals are ruled by their darker side and are likely to kill indiscriminately. The others are trying to either protect humanity or themselves, specifically one group called the
Enforcers, led by Marcus, a centuries-old vampire. His consort, Tambra, used to be one of the few remaining Pure Blood Lycan females and their relationship has caused trouble with the Lycan leader, Temple. The various groups are all searching for an ancient artifact called Oman's Seal. When Tegan, a panther shifter and Enforcer is sent after the archaeologist on the track of the Seal, he has no idea that he is about to meet the woman he has been dreaming about and his possible mate.

This paranormal book started off with a bang and even though I had not read the previous book, I did not feel lost. Just enough back story was given to follow along, and though there are many plot points interwoven with each other, it was skillfully done and I was able to keep track. The fighting amongst all the the different factions was interesting and you could see how the lines were being drawn. I really enjoyed the push and pull between Tegan and Kyra as they first fought against and then gave into their mutual attraction. The original
impression of Tegan as an arrogant jerk was soon exposed as a cover for a determined man, protective and self-sacrificing. Kyra's bull-headedness made her a good match for him once she gave in to the possibilities. As a romantic pair they were a good match. I found this story exciting and want to read more about the world in it. My only real issue with it was some grammar/editing issues that made me have to re-read in order to determine what was meant.

His gaze caught once again on her face as she stopped at arm’s length away from him. Her eyes, he noted slanted up at an exotic angle enhancing a heart shaped face. Her nose was small, straight with a small upturn at the tip and her lips, Gods those lips were made for a man to kiss! Full and pale pink, he had the sudden urge to see if they were as soft and lush as they looked.

“You are different from the others,” she stated it as fact in a husky voice, filling his mind with all kinds of lecherous ideas.

“Yeah, I’ve been accused of that before,” he replied giving her a slow smile.

Her arched brows angled down in a frown. “No, I mean I think you are here for me.”

“Any other time, sweetheart, but this is hardly the place for a conversation. We need
to get out of here fast before some real bad guys come back here.”

“Yes, it is not safe here. You must go,” she agreed turning to head back into the
forest. He quickly grabbed her arm turning her to face him. “Whoa there, no way am I
leaving you alone, lady. Come on. Let’s get out of here.”

She pulled back from him. Her voice brushed over him like velvet, yet her words rang
with steel. “I am quite capable of taking care of myself. Just get out of here now. I will not be the cause of more deaths.”

“I know how to handle myself, so don’t worry your pretty little head about it,” he
purred, giving her his best seductive smile.

He watched those gorgeous eyes narrow with irritation at him. “My pretty little
head? You just didn’t say that to me did you? Of course you didn’t. Because if you did that would mean I was dealing with a real imbecile. No, I take that back. I would be talking to a chauvinistic, egomaniacal jerk who had the IQ of a rock.”

“Wow, a rock huh?” His eyes narrowed, all thoughts sexual dissolving in an instant, “Who the hell are you, lady?” He felt his temper rise, never a good sign when his cat prowled just under his skin.. “I’ve been called worse things in my life, and though I would love to stand here and argue with you, I just don’t have that kind of time, so if you don’t mind, move your ass.”

“I have never met a more disagreeable person in all of my life,” she huffed.

“That life will be very short and painful if we don’t get the hell out of her. Now!”

“I just so happen to know this area very well and I don’t need to be saved,” she snapped back at his abruptness. Moving swiftly away from the burning bodies and out to the main path. They walked for some time in a strained silence stretching between them, tension spiking between them until she blurted out the first thing that came to mind. “Are you always this… exasperating?”

“Baby, that’s my middle name,” he drawled. “Now get that pretty little ass moving.”

“Do you have to use such base language? Honestly, it shows a lack of intelligence.” she grumbled as he marched her out of the settlement to a small overgrown trail.

“Didn’t your mama ever tell you it’s dangerous to judge a book by its cover? It may just take your head off,” he advised dryly picking up the pace. “By the way, do you have a name or should I just call you pain in the ass?”

“Anyone ever tell you you’re a jerk?”

“Every minute of every day.” He chuckled. “Your name?”

She huffed out an irritated breath. “I am Doctor Navarone, Kyra to my friends, which by the way you are not.”

Fit to Kill by Donnie Whetstone
Genre - Thriller
Length -  Novel
TBR Reviewer - Kim
This is the story of a personal trainer who acts out his fantasies of killing his clients by brutally murdering other people. It is up to a slightly damaged female detective to try and put the pieces together and solve the mystery before any more people are killed.

After a fairly lengthy introduction - that set the scene for a story in the world of high fitness - this story took off. It was a very clever thriller. Things were done so that it kept you guessing most of the way through. It was graphic and violent and I loved it. Tara was the damaged detective, who usually relys on her gut instinct steering her right. After a case went wrong a couple of years before, she is no longer sure about her instincts and begins to doubt herself. Meanwhile the killer is well on his way to serial killer status by acting out all sorts of fantasies by brutalising his victims. This was fast paced, detailed (almost too much so in places) and had a mind blower of an ending. A great serial killer thriller for lovers of the genre.

Cassandra shakes her head in disbelieve as the scale has her three pounds heavier than her last assessment.

“I’ve had it. I’ve followed your program for twelve weeks and it didn’t work,” Cassandra says out of frustration. “I don’t know why I fall for these ridiculous programs!” Tears well in her eyes.

“Cassandra,” the trainer says in a calm, deliberate tone. “I need to ask you something and you need to be truthful, did you follow the changes we made three weeks ago?”

“Yes…I did,” she says.

“Cassandra,” the trainer says in a deliberate, not so calm tone, “did you do something...three days ago…You know…have a cheat meal with margaritas, perhaps?”

Cassandra went on the offensive.

“I don’t like your tone and I don’t like what you’re insinuating. I followed your program and it didn’t wor…”

Cassandra’s last word did not materialize before she finds herself four feet from where she was standing, jammed against a wall, with a powerful hand clamped over her mouth.

When her mind catches up to what has happened, she finds herself gazing into eyes that are cold and dark. Astonishment instantly becomes fear, then terror when she realizes she is in a deadly place. The eyes peering at her are not the eyes of the man she was with moments ago.

“That was not the answer to my question Cassandra; a simple yes or no would have sufficed!”

Tears began to stream heavily down Cassandra’s face and the powerful hand muffles any chance of her screaming.

“I think you were insinuating my program didn’t work, which means you were following your diet.”

Adrenaline surges through Cassandra and her heart is beating at a frantic pace.

“Since you refuse to answer my question, I’m going to have to find out for myself. Now, you’re probably wondering…How am I going to do that?”

erotic romance; M/F/M menage romance - novella

Lucie is eighteen and about to enter her final year of high school when her mother shocks her by announcing that she is about to re-marry a man Lucie was not even aware her mother was dating. Not only will her soon-to-be stepfather move in with them, but also his two sons, both close in age to Lucie. Although she is angry with the entire situation, she soon finds herself lusting after both young men, and when their parents leave for their honeymoon, the three young adults come together in a combustive fashion.

For a short novella, this story packs a punch. The sex scenes between Lucie and her new step-brothers, Quentin and Emery, are very hot, both the threesomes and the one on one encounters. Although the overall focus is on the delightfully sinful aspect of the step-sibling taboo and threesome-ness of the story, there is also a mystery of sorts that allows Lucie's character to be filled out in more than just the object of Quentin and Emery's desires. The
angst underlying Lucie's doubts about Edward, her new step-father, and the way he treats her mother and Lucie herself, foreshadow nicely the way the story plays out. I was happy with the ending, although I would have loved for the story overall to be longer, or to get another look at their relationships farther down the road than just one year later, as in the epilogue.

Review

Infinite Betrayal was slow to start, and I was tempted to put it down after the first sixty pages passed by with an overwhelming amount of details, background, and very little action. Fortunately I stuck the story out, and the action, passion and adventure kicked in. With twists, turns and a fresh take on shape shifters this tale left me impressed and eager to read more.

Mina is a woman who’s stuck at a turning point in her life, and unsure of where to go next. After losing her Mother she receives a mysterious letter that leads her to Germany. The Father she’s always thought to be dead is alive, and with nothing left to loose she sets off to find him, and hopefullya part of herself in the process. Once she arrives there she meets the sexy enigma known as Mathias. Sent by her Father the tempting French born man has her thinking wicked thoughts the first night they met. Luckily for her , the reality of their coming together is even more phenomenal.  I can only describe their passionate encounters as Smex. The hot nasty, down and dirty melding of bodies we all need every now and then.

Mathias is his king’s best warrior sent to protect the daughter no one knew he had, until now. The attraction  he feels for Mina is instant, and resistance is futile when instincts take over and he marks her. The discovery of her true heritage brings up painful betrayals and tests them both in ways they never imagined.

This is a wonderful read that will keep you turning pages as fast as you can read them once you get over the slow start. I recommend this books, especially if you love shifters.

Mina tried to turn again to go to her room. His fingers tightened slightly and he took the first step to loom over her. He inhaled slowly as if he was getting ready to deliver an unwanted speech. Mina narrowed her eyes and raised a hand to stop him from speaking. Instead of delving into the reasons he would not be leaving her side, he reached up with his free hand and grasped Mina’s raised palm gently. He released her arm and pressed her hand between both of his as if warming it. His green eyes darkened as Mina’s mouth fell open in shock. She stopped breathing, almost as if in expectation of what he was going to do. Very slowly and deliberately, he raised her hand to his mouth.

The blood in her veins stopped flowing as her knuckles came into contact with his warm lips. His mouth remained on her hand for what seemed like hours. Her fingers instinctively
curled inward and she fought the urge not to place her other hand in his hair and hold on tight. Jesus, what this man could probably do with that mouth. It might have been a while since Mina had had sex, but the flutter in her stomach reminded her she was probably due for some real quick.

Slowly removing his mouth from her hand, he took a slight nip at her skin with his teeth. Mina’s nipples immediately tightened against her shirt at the sensation. Mathias lifted
his thick lashes and she met his heated gaze. His eyes were warm and inviting. He didn’t let her hand go but simply started brushing the inside of her palm with the pad of his thumb. Mina was immediately aware of the wetness pooling between her legs at the mere idea of what could happen next. She felt chilled but about to melt at the same time. No words came to her. Only a feeling of guilt mixed with the tantalizing thought of letting him touch her more. She was way too turned-on to utter a word. With her mouth still open, she just stood
there and stared. His eyes were almost hypnotic. Her mind was a complete blank. All she knew was she did not want this man to let go of her hand.

She imagined he continued up the steps and led her behind him, like a lamb to slaughter. Once reaching her room, he would push her up against the door and crush his mouth to
hers, sending her into oblivion. He’d lace his hands into her hair and gently tug at the curls to force her closer. She’d arch against him to get the feel of his body against hers. Warm, hard and ready. His hands would move slowly down her back to grip her ass, lifting her against him. Wrapping her legs around his hips, she’d feel the hardness of his need for her and grind herself against it. She’d moan into his mouth that she wanted him desperately. He’d magically open the door, and within seconds, he’d be on top of her, burying her in the soft down comforter on top of the bed in her room. Gently moving his hands up her sides and underneath her sweater, he’d cup her breasts and move his thumbs expertly over her already hard nipples. Throwing back her head in ecstasy, she’d beg him to take her...

Wake up Mina!

She snapped out of her sexual trance to realize she had been grasping his hand hard enough to dig her short nails into his skin.

He slowly straightened his stance. Once again, she looked up into his gorgeous face. Was he smiling? Her hand still molded in his, Mina remained frozen in place. “Good night then,
Mina. Sleep well.”

Mina’s hand was slowly lowered to her side and his warm palms slipped away, leaving her wondering what the hell had just happened.

Very casually, Mathias turned and walked out of the hotel, closing the door firmly behind
him.

Mina remained standing on the third step with her mouth open and her gaze glued to the closed front door of the hotel. “Holy shit.”
