Review
The beginning starts with our two main characters in the middle of a party. Apparently, Angelica and Alexander knew each other previously but we have no idea how or what happened as the author doesn’t explain. We’re simply thrown into a story. There’s also a lot of telling along with very little detail and as you know, that drives me mad. I like to visualize the story, see the characters and get to know them so I can sink into their story like a dream weaved by another person. This is not that book and I’m pissed because I was so excited to read this book. The moment it I read the blurb I was interested.
The Scene changes are abrupt and the characters are very one dimensional. There’s no depth, no emotion that made me need to read this entire book to find out what happened between Angelica and Alexander.
I’ve also never read such passionless sex before. These characters didn’t draw me in like the blurb did. She did this and she did that. He did this and he did that. Where’s the fire? Where the explosion of fireworks at the first gentle stroke of a man’s fingertips? This was all accompanied with the need for more editing. If I read the word ‘had’ or ‘felt’ again I might just scream.
This may be harsh but I so looked forward to reading this book. The true downfall to this book was the ‘telling’ and characters (and the sex, I was really in the mood for a passionate embrace.).
I really hope the author continues and grows because her plot was such a tantalizing idea.
