Soul by Erika Lindsen

In Soul Ms. Lindsen has a unique take on evil. Attractive, young and intent on making you take your own life. Takers, are a revamped version of demons I’ve never seen before. These things prey on the insecurity and vulnerability that exists in all of us. Drebin is a taker with a new assignment. He’s been a cold blooded killer for centuries, but there’s something about his new assignment Alexia, that’s throwing him off his game. Determined to do his duty he fights against the tender feelings that have begun to blossom. When she shows him kindness, something he hasn’t experienced since the death of his own mother he loses his
ability to remain objective. It doesn’t take long for his boss to realize his head isn’t in the game. He’s taken off the assignment and his powers are lessened. Can still keep, Alexis safe from the new taker?
It was entertaining, but there’s a lack of depth and detail that made it hard for me to lose myself in the story she was telling. With its fast pace, dark setting and hints of romance it seemed aimed at the YA crowd. I say hint, because we never really saw why Alexis was so special she made Drebin give up life as he knew it or for that matter, why Alexis forgave him.
