Blurb

Hayden has made up her mind.  If she doesn't between the Namaels and the Majs then innocent beings won't die because of her.  Of course, things can never be that simple and when she is taken prisoner by the humans a whole new problem arises.  It doesn't take long before everything she thought she knew no longer makes sense.  Could it be possible
that the prophecy was wrong?

Review

I really loved the first book in this series, but this time around I just couldn’t get into this story. The pacing was off with too much happening at once, and an unbalanced resolution of conflict. An anticipated battle since book one, ends in hugs and requests for tea (no I'm not exaggerating) it’s a blow I can’t recover from. Too many times with this book I was left feeling let down and unsatisfied.

Our heroine Hayden is growing more powerful by the day, as the war between the Namels and the Maj’s continues to be waged. Each side is desperate to win, leading to kidnap attempts, and battles. Determined to remain neutral Hayden is constantly doing damage control, healing the injured, and offering those who were once enemies a different way of life among her group. I think her goal to remain peaceful is noble, but to me, Ms Chester took that concept too far. Hayden’s idealistic views put her in unnecessary danger time and time again, which placed her in the martyr zone.

I’m all for a strong heroine who can fight with the best of them, but if the situations she finds herself in are ones that could have been avoided, it loses its potency. There was plenty of action as Hayden and her fated mate Jasper forged forward, slaying enemies, gaining new information, and meeting some new friends along the way. The magical creatures just keep multiplying! This go around my favorite addition was dragons! I really do enjoy watching Ms.
Chester's imagination at work.

Sadly the pacing, and consequence scales outweighed her talent.
