There was some head hopping. The main issues was her mentioning various things/people
and me begin lost. I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t read the first one or that she just didn’t explain them. There’s also scenes that aren’t flesh out, more outline like and a serious lack of details as well as choppy scenes. Then there are mind readers, witches, shifters, demon shadows (Which is what?) and elf’s along with a lot of character introductions all at once. Such as one moment our main character is a witch and the next a half breed. Is she half witch and half something else? This wasn’t touched on. Even if I read the first it should have still been mentioned for the second in this series. The first chapter is a massive confusion. There’s some basic editing issues, repetition and the sort. There’s no chemistry between the characters. Don’t get me wrong I did like them, but the fact that it’s supposed to be a romantic relationship didn’t feel realistic.

All this is adding up to a difficult read. I enjoyed the plot but ultimately, disliked the book.

Review

Is a deal with the devil worth gaining ones rightful place inthe world? To Bethany Boudreaux it sure is! And the devil is in the form of theone and only Lord Alek, a sexy dark elf who makes a deal that ensnares her mindand body. Will Beth be able to comply with his three conditions? Or will shethrow it all away with her street hardened soul?

I did not care for this book much. I felt the author struggled to hard trying to balance diversity in a dark world which left the plot flat. I was unable to connect with the characters on a personal level  because this isn’t a love story. Bethany and Alek's relationship was based purely on sex. It isn't a love story at all. Unfortunately, some of these stories are listed as "Love" stories but in actuality it is just a romp in bed with a couple of guys at leisure. Which is precisely what this is. Pure unadulterated sex; which is fine, but these kind of stories just don't turn me on. It didn't offer substance. Bethany acts tough and stubborn, but stupid. The pace was boring, long, and redundant. All of the issues above didn’t allow me to hope for a happy ending with the two main characters.

A Lady of the Realm is a miss for me and I would not recommend it.
