The Road to Dark Desire by Brooklynn Rivers
Genre - Historical Romance
Length - Novel

Rating: 4 Stars - Recommended Read.
Heat: 4 Handcuffs - An Erotic Ride.
This historical romance, set in 17th Century England, draws you in, and takes you on an action-filled adventure. After being tricked to sign away his heritage and title, Quentin Ellesbrooke now lives his life as the infamous Ellesbrooke bandit. When the Prescott´s set another trap for Quentin he is severely wounded and flees into the forest. He ends up on the grounds of the rich Weston family, and is found by Skyler Weston, who although she knows he must be some kind of highwayman, hides him away and nurses him back to health. The attraction between the young maiden and the highwayman is strong, but Prescott has put a bounty on Quentin´s head, and they must find a way to beat the Prescotts together.

I enjoyed Brooklynn Rivers style of writing. It is very light and easy, and I ended up reading this story very quickly. It is full of action and moves at a fast pace, so it never gets boring. Both Quentin and Skyler are very easy to like, both together as a pair, and as strong individuals
who are prepared to risk their lives for the people they love. They are a perfect match for each other and the romance element is very good.

There were a few things that bothered me in this book, and I can´t say if I am correct in my feelings, as I don´t know much about 17th Century England. The first thing is the name Skyler, espcially for a woman, it seems very modern, and I am not even sure it existed 400 years ago. The second thing is the language, especially that of Skyler. She is the daughter of a wealthy man, trained to be a proper lady. She is a very free spirit, and spends most of her time with her friend Josie the promiscuous barmaid, but still her language should reflect more that of a noble
woman than a swearing sailor. These are minor things though, and doesn´t really take away from an otherwise great romantic adventure.

I would absolutely recommend The Road to Dark Desire to fans of historical romance, who enjoy fair maidens and handsome highwaymen.
