Heat: 2 handcuffs - Flirty.
Aime Laine is a master of immersion. From the moment I read the first page I began a journey
into a whole new world. The setting and the cast of characters kept me engrossed, and invested from start to finish. I've never read a book about a Mimic before, and Ms. Laine has me ready to hit my local library to do more research. Yes it was that interesting. Imagine being able to take on any form you wanted. The possibilities would be endless, right? Wrong. A case of mistaken identity leads heroine Lily into a precarious position, where she's forced to
take on the foreign roles of mother and wife! This kidnapping is where the mystery begins. Who was this woman Lily is now mimicking and what has she done? Forced back into a situation that brings up painful memories from her past she's forced to face her demons head on if she wishes to escape.
Lily is my favorite kind of character. One who's been wronged, broken down, and is rising to the occasion, finding her voice, and well… frankly, kicking ass. That kind of growth is admirable and inspiring. Especially, when you have the love of your life at your side, or in this case not willing to give up on you like, Cael. Cael is the kind of man I think ever one of us would love to have, strong enough to protect, but gentle enough to listen. Oh and I can't forget, sexy, and intelligent. I didn't read the first book in this series where Lily and Cael
were first introduced, but I found their back story translated just fine.
There's so much more I'd like to say about this story, but I can't because it would be a spoiler and this book is all about the twists, and turns, on the road to the finish. While the sex scenes between Lily and Cael were hot, they weren't the star of the show. They merely enhanced the grand love story between the two.
Surrender is a triple threat, action, adventure, and romance. If you're a fan of the paranormal and characters who grow this is a must read.
Paranormal, Romance, Suspense - novel
TBR reviewer: Luta Wolf
Everyone’s heard of soul mates, that perfect someone that is the polar opposite and yet your complete complement. However the truth isn’t all that romantic. Sure Lexi Shepherd’s soul mate is out there but she is never allowed to meet him and they are never allowed to be together. What if they do meet though, does that mean that there is a chance that they could be together too?
To say this is well written would be a major understatement, it could even get me blasted by lightening. This book had all the key elements that us Romance Fictional Book lovers search for. It’s one of those one in a million finds, an exceptional book. There is absolutely nothing for me to complain about, which is, honestly, pretty rare.
There is absolutely no simplicity to this author’s writing style, the structure was very complex which completely complemented the multifaceted plot. Yet the author made it seem simple with the effortless way that she sewed the plot, romance, and suspense. The suspense was in the fact that you didn’t really know which way the story would go. The whole time I wonder in which direction the author was going to take this, which of course added to the emotional impact.
The characters do lean towards the stereo-typical hero and heroine, however they were given twists that kept them from being boring. While Tripp is the quintessential adorable rouge with a large dose of charm, there is equal mounts of vulnerability and uncertainty. Add in his complicated and sometimes a nuisance of a gift. There was never a moment in which I wasn’t intrigued. I truly loved Lexi, while she is the one thing in the story that bordered on
simply written it added to the magic. She’s a soft, vulnerable character that I found myself wanting to protect.
I highly recommend Hide and Seek in every way, pure magic.
