When a man wants to claim his mate, there is no denying the alpha. This is a five story anthology all about sexy men finding sexy mates and how they go through hell to find their happy ending.
Tortured Heat by L.J. Longo: I’m totally in love with Tortured Heat by LJ Longo. That’s probably my favorite of the bunch. We’re instantly in the middle of it but the author does a fantastic job of explain what’s going on so the reader isn’t lost. There are lovers betraying, twists, torture, shifters, magic, yummy sex and a really interesting plot. I would have totally given this story 5 stars by itself. (5/5)
If You Can’t Stand the Heat by Pelaam: This story was okay. It was very jumpy. I honestly found the story a little boring and predictable. The sex also felt very rushed. There was some action at the end. (3/5)
Five Dollar Mate by Angelique Voisen: Cal just went through a really bad breakup and he’s selling everything in his apartment for…five dollars. Everything. Diesel is the shifter that won’t leave until Cal agrees to a date. Cal is way too trusting of this complete stranger and not only do they go on a date, but they have sex in the park before the night is over. I just couldn’t get behind Cal and Diesel. Their actions made me cringe. Then they’re talking about not breaking each others hearts and it happens way too fast. Things did get some action when Pierce (Cal’s ex) returns. (3/5)
At the Edge by Nell Rockhill: This is actually a confusing story at first. Did he choose to be wolf or was he stuck like that? It is very muddled. The drug Allum is confusing as well. I wish that would have been explained better. I didn’t feel any heat between Sorrel and Ari. When Sorrel is naked Ari barely notices and yet they’re mad for each other? I did like the way the author dealt with the Allum addiction and how that played out. (3/5)
Hunted by His Alpha by Marie Medina: I loved the world building in this story but the romance happened way too quickly! Two pages in, after just meeting, they’re talking about sleeping with each other. The mating hunt is a fun idea though. (3/5)
This anthology has a range of interesting stories. If you love erotic tales with fated mates then you’ll probably enjoy Denying the Alpha: Manlove edition

In Valladora to commit murder is a crime automatically punishable by death. King Jareth is not known for forgiveness let alone pardoning prisoners who are set for execution. To further complicate matters Kamon is now being held for the murder of his brother-in-law. He confesses to the crime and expects to die for it. That is until he meets the sexy vampire Lord Ian. Ian did not expect to find his mate in the dungeon of his realm and certainly did not expect his mate to be a shifter. To say that neither could have prepared for the surprise of discovering each other’s existence would be an understatement. It is to be seen if the attraction between these mates and Ian’s determination to see Kamon pardoned will be enough to save his life and ultimately give them a chance at being together.
This story was a well-thought out second book in a series. The heat throughout the story is palpable and the fact that Ian’s bite has an unexpected side-effect for Kamon is also an added sizzle point. The plot is solid in that Kamon is doing something most people would do for family and Ian will risk his own neck to save him from his fate. The end was HEA and believable, which is also a bonus when creating an entire world. I gave this book four stars as the ability to describe a new world, the politics of that culture, and the characters in 86 pages was impressive! I truly enjoyed the story and felt that even though I had not read the first book in the series it did not detract from reading this one. I would recommend this to both paranormal and M/M readers as both genres were very well represented. Impressively written all around!

What’s better then two sexy men and two adorable cubs...um, not much.
This was a great story about Thanos finding two baby shifters and meeting their older, sexy brother, Declan. A few area’s in the book felt forced and telling but mostly this was a great read. If you like shifter stories, you’ll love this book. I really enjoyed it. Thanos was one character to pull the heart and I’m glad he got Declan. It wasn’t easy but totally worth it.
His Defiant Leopard is a highly recommended read!
Picking up with the couple hinted at in the previous book, The Dragon's Lover, follows a half-dragon shifter, half vampire named Ryu and the fox shifter Takumi that he discovered is his mate. Like the previous book in the series (and the series it spun off from), the knowledge that their mating is fated is not, in and of itself, enough to guarantee a smooth romance. Although all the people in this world understand that a vampire knows his or her mate at first sip, Takumi feels unworthy and is disbelieving. He also is in the middle of a crisis, since his father figure has been kidnapped by a con-man and a fire demon.
Although there were places where this book seemed to move more slowly than necessary, it was still enjoyable to fans of Ms. Medina's writings and the world she has built here. Even if this were to be the first of her books read, there is enough background information given to keep the reader from being lost. Especially enjoyable is the way that the fated mates in this novella shared a common tragic childhood and both seemed to share traits such as being unable to see in their own pairing what they could see easily in others. The overall arc of the story is satisfying and the epilogue sets up nicely for the next book in the series.
This book is the first in a trilogy to follow the trilogy "The Year of Hearts" by the same author and you really need to have read the first trilogy to understand the setting and some of the 'rules' to this world. The vampires and other races have a symbiotic-type of relationship that often is involved in their relationships: vampires know at first taste who their fated mates is. In some cases, it sets up difficult expectations. Hatori is a half-lycan struggling with chronic pain and a craving for vampire blood, searching for a cure to his condition. He seeks out the lycans near a friend's home, staying with a vampire lord. However, the information they give him is less than helpful, but soon he finds that he may be in the area for a very different reason than he thought.
This book had quite a bit of angst in it for both of the main characters. For a time, it seemed that they were never going to get it together and be on the same page to make their relationship work, but the ending was quite good. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, especially Lord Kyo's half-brother and the set-up in the epilogue for his story. If you enjoy paranormal worlds and 'fated mates' where work is still required to make the relationships happen, these are definitely books for you.
This is the sequel to "Switch Him Up". One year after Christian came back to Alec, after much groveling and working through their issues, the two are celebrating one year back together. However, Alec worries that Christian is subsuming all of his own needs in order to keep Alec, and each new stress in their lives makes him more concerned.
I really found this to be a nice follow-up to the first story. It is often lovely to see how an established
couple keeps it together. In this case, the scenes involving Christian's co-worker and the damage that he could have done really showed how far the two men had come in their relationship. The house-hunting was also a great analog for where they were as a couple. I definitely recommend this read to fans of
the author, those who read the first book, or someone that wants to read a good story with an established couple.
In this third installment of the Year of Hearts series, the third vampire brother, Fredric is battling both
Dissolution (a vampire disease) and the need to bond with his mate. His own prejudices keep tripping him up, for he always expected to mate with a female and Satoru is not only male, but only half human. The other half of the priest is demon blood, and Fredric wants nothing to do with him. However, Satoru is
willing to give up everything in his previous life, as well as putting up with Fredric's moods, in order to save his mate from death. However, more than Fredric's dislike for Satoru's demon blood is standing in the way of their happily ever after.
I really enjoyed this book - even when Fredric was being a jerk, you could see him slowly softening. Satoru was irresistible, and although it took some time, his determination was enough to win the day. I liked how he could be stubborn and submissive at the same time! I also felt like even in a novella
length story, you could get to know and care about these characters.
Needing His Demon is a really good read for paranormal M/M fans.

Heat: 4 - An Erotic Ride.
Lance has served one vampire for ten years and now has found that he is another vampire's mate. Although he has no trouble with the fact that his mate is a man, he struggles with moving on with his life after his mistress has gone crazy and died. When his mistress' twin brother comes back from exile, more trouble faces Lance and Lord Tavok before they can cement their life together.
Although this is the second book in the series and refers to things that must have happened in the first one, enough details were given to keep me from having any problems following the plot. I enjoyed watching the two main characters try to find out how they would fit together and that the "one and only mate" aspect did not mean smooth sailing, even though both seemed to automatically assume that
they would work things out together. It had a little bit of the "insta-love" flavor to it, but not so much as to be off-putting. The villain was very villainous, and as details of his crimes came out, it made
more sense of Lance's mistress' problems and helped him move on which I liked. For the length of story, a lot happened and the set up for the third vampire brother's story was given without taking away from the main characters. I also liked how it combined feudalism and paranormal aspects.

Heat: 4 - An Erotic Ride.
When Alec hears someone enter his apartment late one night, he takes a baseball bat with him to face his supposed intruder. Instead of a burglar, he finds his former lover, Christian, who ran out on Alec six months previously over a misunderstanding. Christian, who finally knows and believes the truth of the
incident, is determined to do anything to get Alec to take him back.
I really enjoyed the read, although I thought the quick forgiveness on Alec's part and some of Christian's turn-around strained the limits of credulity. Christian did, however, seem to have to do an appropriate amount of groveling! The chemistry between the two men was quite obvious in both the present scenes and the flash-backs of their past. I also liked that Alec had his own terrible blind spots pointed out to him and had to admit that some of their past problems took two to cause. Overall, I found this to be a quick, enjoyable read.

Heat: 4 Handcuffs - An Erotic Ride
If you want to know if God has a sense of humor than tell him you have a plan. Vampire Tristan is about to find out that this is an all too true statement. Just because he doesn’t want his familiar John to know the depth of his love and to have to make a choice of becoming a vampire doesn’t mean that fate won’t step in and make the choice for him. And just because fate made Werewolf Rory his mate doesn’t mean that Rory doesn’t feel the pull elsewhere. Hold onto your seat, things are about to get complicated and bumpy.
Let me start by saying that I like this book, hence the four star but the first chapter is just not good. The conversations between characters are very stilted and the dramatic attack scene was blandly told. I had moments were I screamed at the author that adjectives are her friends. Just
when I thought I would quit we find ourselves into the real angst and meat of the story and it would seem the author found her pace.
I really loved how the author caught the essence of the ménage. No one relationship was more important than another though none of the characters in the book realized that, which made for some very nicely played angst. I also enjoyed that none of the men are anything alike. Tristan is a bit selfish and childish, John is the one that is more of the adult out of all of them, and Rory is adorable but the most vulnerable.
While I can’t give this a five star for reasons mentioned above. It’s still a must read for the unique twist to the paranormal romance plot and well, the sex is just too hot to miss!
