The story immediately pulled me in. Summer and her brother were on a ship when caught in a storm and they were both thrown overboard. They are saved by a sexy privateer who may be a smuggler and enemy
of her father.
My first issue were the flashbacks, there no italic to indicate they were flashbacks, so I was a little lost until I realized this was something Summer was remembering. The editing was a bit rough in places. Head hopping made me bring the rating down too. The pace is a bit slow in places. Sometime the accent was hard to read, thorny in particular. I think a hard edit would have made a huge difference.
As is, this book is still very good. The details really made me feel like I was on the ship, swaying back and forth. The characters were fabulous, each had such depth, even the secondary characters. The romance was a nice slow sizzle that worked so well!
I can’t say I’d recommend this as it has a lot that needs improving but if it were fixed up, I think it would be a fabulous read.
