Slave (Finding Anna Book 1) by Sherri Hayes
Genre: romance - BDSM themes
Length: novel (203 pgs.)
TBR Reviewer: Amanda
This is a difficult novel to categorize - I went into it expecting a BDSM novel leading to a D/s relationship that included the bedroom and that is not at all what I got. Instead, Slave tells the beginning of a relationship that could possibly lead that direction. Stephan is a rich, successful man, CEO of his family's foundation and dedicated to helping the less-fortunate. He is also
a Dominant that is not in a relationship when a friend and former mentor mentions a girl that he believes needs help. Brianna is young, and Daman believes that she has become a slave by someone's choice other than her own. When Stephan meets with her "owner", he quickly concedes that fact and buys Brianna in order to help her. The process is slow since Brianna is so broken by her experiences at Ian's hands, but Stephan uses his skills as a Dominant to be
patient with her and help her begin to get past them.
Even though there appears to be much more story to tell, I felt like the author left the story at a good spot. Stephan is beginning to make a difference to Brianna, to know what brings on her panic attacks and to help her gain some confidence. Although there is not yet an actual romance, the seeds of one have been planted. I will definitely want to continue to read this series and see what else happens. (WARNING: There are several scenes of flashbacks of abuse, so this would not be a good book for anyone sensitive to this type of storyline.)
