Forever Devoted is a story that truly explores the phrase for better or worse. Gary and Roberta form a bond at a young age when they’re both looking for someone to care. From abusive families, they band together vowing to always be there for one another. They never realized how that promise would be tested.
One of the guys, Roberta better known as Robbie has been over looked by Gary for years. Finally feed up, and broken hearted from her last relationship she drinks too much and makes a decision that will haunt her for months to come. I had a hard time enjoying Robbie. She seemed reckless to the point of being immature. It really took away from the romance for me. But I understood, that coming from her background, she was bound to have some rough edges. I would've liked to see more softness from her to balance things out.
Gary is by her side through everything, and battling with new feelings. The life or death situation has forced him to examine the way he really feels about Robbie. As she struggles to regain all her abilities he does his best to hold back his emotions. I loved watching Gary come to terms with his true feelings. His care, concern, and protective nature completely charmed me. I adored him from the beginning.
In the end, I believe the character's internal struggles overshadowed their romance. I wanted to experience more of their journey from best friends to two adults in love. A lot of time was spent on her accident and the recovery, but it was more superficial healing with a healthy dose of her mental battle. They fought more than they made up , and I wish it had been balanced out a bit better to round out the book.

Lips of Velvet by Virginia Nelson
TBR Reviewer: Brutally Honest
This is a very short read that I fell in love with. F/f is hard to find, good f/f is even harder. This was fabulously both! The characters were absolutely perfect and sweet as well as sexy. The story instantly grabbed me and the words lit a wild sexual fire within. This would have been five shiny stars if it had only been longer. It needed to be fleshed out with more details and more background information. That was the only flaw in this story.
Lips of Velvet was a fun, sexy read that I definitely recommend.
