job she meets, Jack the Irishman, better known as Irish. Attractive with a keen sense of humor, and a healthy dose of charm, he breaches her defenses. For the first time in years, she wants to risk venturing back into the dating pool. Terrified she shuts down and flees to her hotel only to discover, life has a
funny way of making you face your fears. “Irish” is the new boss she’ll be working side by side with for the next year.
While I loved the concept of a young girl getting away from home, and exploring the world, Kate’s stubborn ability to hold on to the past really got under my skin. I’ll be the first to admit you never forget your true love, but four years is a long time to let a teenage romance dictate. I would’ve liked to see her grow more of a backbone and face things. I think the story lost some of its potential because it focused too much on the past instead of the present. Kate continued to sabotage with her mistrust, and refusal to admit she’d fallen in love with a man who was worthy of her affection. The constant loop
made the story feel stagnate. The story moved forward, time passed, and she essentially stayed the same, which was why I gave the story three stars. Jack was an Alpha to the fifth power he occasionally came on too strong. I would’ve liked to see less of the “Chase” and more of the connection and bond being formed between them.
If alpha’s turn you on, and you find the thrill of the chase enthralling in What Happens in Ireland.
