Dirty Tricks took an approach I’ve never seen before in the romance. Our hero Cat is a plucky woman, ready to extract her revenge on the man who broke her Grandmother’s heart at any cost. This leads her to sneaking back into the home she once lived in and pretending to be a ghost to dissuade contractors for doing work.
The hilarity that ensues is wonderful. She’s succeeding in her quest until Jay comes. I love this hero’s off color personality and style. She was so unique, funny, and funky. Her preoccupation with the villain of her youth tugged at my heart strings. Jay is a man intent on finishing the job his father started. Steadfast and intelligent, he’s not swayed into believing the haunting is real for a minute. His retaliation on the next door neighbor for her shenanigans is a modern day prank war. I adored his wit and the slices of insight to his past. I just wish I could’ve learned more about him.
The passion between them simmers, but the main focus in this tale is on the chase. If you’re looking for a humorous romance you won’t soon forget this is the one for you.

Can I just start of by saying I absolutely loved this one!
It’s been a while since I enjoyed a story this much. I read it from start to finish in like an hour flat. Interesting characters, action, phenomenal sex, humor and a strong , yet, tortured hero. What more can you ask for? Especially, since this is all packed into sixty–two pages, you can squeeze this read into even the most hectic of schedules. This is my first time reading Ms. James, but it surely will not be my last. She has a way with details, making lore her own, and adding a dash of humor. I like a little laughter with my drama.
I could go on for much longer, but then I’d give all the good stuff away, and I don’t want to do that. This is a fantastic, fast paced read I highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a quick read.
