600 pages....600! And it’s by the author of Twilight...um, why did I buy this? Oh, right I loved the blurb and it was on sale. Let me tell you in 600 pages, I was totally and completely blown away! Never once bored, this story flowed beautifully into this amazing world and a stunning love story.
Earth is invaded. These parasite like creatures called souls bury themselves in a person neck and take over their body. (Kind of like Stargate. They even have glowing eyes.) Melanie is one of the last remaining humans and she was just captured. Wanda is the creature/soul they put into her body. But Mel refuses to give up so easily. They start a strange friendship that leads to Wanda breaking from her life and joining the resistance. There she meets the man Melanie loves, Jared. What an amazing story. You’d think I’d get bored in 600 pages but I really fell in love with this world and these characters. Flawless comes to mind when I think of The Host. This is one of my favorite books ever. And I just found out there’s a movie too. All the characters are so wonderfully flawed. The descriptions were beautiful. I really felt like I was in this strange world. Supposedly this is not YA but it can definitely be considered YA. I would think. There's a few kissing scenes and some suggestive language. The love story is such a beautiful story unraveled. When Melanie finally found Jared and he knew she had a Soul in her body - made me all teary eyed.
Don’t worry about not liking Twilight. This book is an amazing read! There’s action, aliens, tough humans trying to survive, cool future technology and a crazy uncle who wasn't so crazy.
Read this book.
READ. THE. HOST!
