This book shocked me. That’s saying something. The sheer brutality of what this doctor did. He didn’t just take his legs but other body parts. I could hardly put this book down, the pace is well done but the imagination alone was enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. The poor guy gets so much surgery, so many limbs hacked off and EVEN MORE taken from him. (Being stuck in that tank is a nightmare in itself.)
Then comes the doctor and his head of security, Drake. What pieces of work these two are. I was constantly routing for a bus or train or something to slam into these two and splatter them. Not only are they behind this castle of horrors but the son that he’s trying to save is being sexually abused by these two. Let me tell you, when that seen came around my mouth hung open.
Yes, it’s gory, hell yes it’s horror but it’s more than that. It’s a thrill ride, it’s a horrific adventure that I couldn’t imagine going through. I wonder if the author had some nightmares while writing this.
The end was bittersweet to me. When you finally make it through that hell and read the last few pages let me know what you think. I found it satisfying but unbelievable gloomy. Either way this book is one to read, preferable with all the windows locked and a knife by the bed.
This was a great read by an author I WILL read more from.
