Tate is barely out of high school when she meets Mathew. They’re working together with her family and his Uncle Buck to find a treasure underwater. It ends horribly with someone (not saying who) losing a leg. They meet again eight years later for a new shipwreck and an old enemy.
I love the plot of this book. It is spot on. Tate and Matthew are too young to understand falling in love but both diving headfirst. The shipwreck. The ‘bad guy’. It is all so exciting and then there are the characters which is why I struggle to give this book 4 fours. Young Tate is falling in love so quick and she’s so unlikeable. Matthew is just plain cruel and on more than one occasion. After he yells at Tate and pushes her, then puts his hand around her throat...um, his butt is gone. Their romance is just pushed together instead of a natural weaving. So, the story about diving and treasure hunting is excellent, the romance is...okay.
