I’ve been a Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputy for four years. Most folks don’t have a clue about what a cop deals with every day. Like a pack of attack chihuahuas, a monkey with a bad case of diarrhea, a hungry python, a Brahma bull named Bodacious and a six-foot iguana.
And that is just the critters. Now let me tell you about the two-legged varmints. Such as a three-hundred-pound biker who got a bit irate when I zapped him with a stun gun, or a murderous nun, and let’s not forget the senior citizens having an orgy. Ugh.

My personal life isn’t much better. Off duty I’m a ballroom dancer which everyone makes fun of. At a dance competition Detective Sergeant Dante Delgado waltzed into my life. Law enforcement isn’t for the fainthearted. Are you brave enough to enter my world?

Kade is of an alien race known as D’shar. Ivy is a top scientist for earth. Together they search for a badass enemy and find out that they are mated.

Kade, oh, Kade! What an amazing man! He made me want to go crawling into a spaceship and search the vastness of space for the D’shar people. He was so hot and sweet but gorgeous. I really loved his  personality. Ivy was adorable and she was equally as lovable. When they two meet, I was enthralled and knew their story would be one of my favorites. The plot is really unique and I love the world that Ms. Colt created! I haven’t read any other book in the series but it was easy to follow.

The surrendering is a must read! You’ll fall in love with the D’shar men like it did!

Maci has a problem, her mother’s a drunk. She is also falling hard for a roughneck with eyes that could melt any woman into a puddle at his feet.

Wow, just wow. For a short story this was fabulous! The characters had good depth to them and back story. They weren’t perfect, which I liked. They both had problems and were trying to deal with them when they met. Heat, holy hell, I was squirming in my chair! My only complaint was that it was a bit rushed in places: One week later then one year later. If fleshed out this would have been 5 stars for sure. As is, this is still a highly recommended read!

This is the first time I read this author and I will definitely be reading her again. Loved by a Rough Neck was a short story that packs a fabulous, romantic tale in its pages.

This is the second in the series Manlove at the End of the World. The first was a great start and I couldn’t wait to read the next. This can be read as standalone and I have to say this SHOULD be read no matter what you’ve read in this series.

This is a fantastic story that starts with a hanging and has a happy ending. The characters were well written considering this is a novella. What really made this story stand out among the genre is the plot. It’s m/m but throws in this apocalypse type event. Finding love in this new
earth is really a romantic adventure.

I also like the unique way this series is told. The first book, The Last Cowboy is the last in the plot. The virus has spread and this new world is here. This book shows a bit more on how crazy groups started to form among the survivors. I can’t wait until I get to the actual virus outbreak to see how it all went down and what actually caused the sickness that killed nearly all the population. As I said this is an intriguing series. Then there’s the heat, sorry, freaking flames. Damn! That title is exactly as gutter minds would guess, yummy!

The Three Hour Man is hot, but has a fantastic back-story that really weaves the reader into Mr. Cox’s apocalyptic world.

Sutton, a thirty-one-year-old nurse, agrees to meet her friend Leigh and Leigh's husband
for dinner, along with Leigh's husband's co-worker. Sidney, a fifty-year-old professor, had been burned by a younger woman before, but he is still immediately attracted to Sutton. As they are drawn closer together, they have to navigate a minefield of family, ex's, and past history to find if they are able to be together.

First and foremost, this is a romance story - boy meets girl, boy gets girl, boy almost throws girl away, boy gets girl for good! The details, however, make it a great read. Sutton turns out to be a natural submissive, loving the opportunity to let go of the control she has held since losing her father as a young girl. Sidney, although dominant, has past hurts that he must
get over before they can move on.

The supporting cast are quite amusing - Leigh and her husband, Sutton's mother and younger sister, and Sutton's ex-fiancé Jackson all play into the story. I really liked the fact that this was played out over months - the two characters did not fall into love or even into bed immediately, and their relationship started out as dating and developed over time. It also portrayed the BDSM aspects as developing slowly which I also appreciated. Sidney took his time with Sutton since everything they did was new to her. I enjoyed the confrontation with Jackson in the cafeteria and the final scene wrapped the book up well.

Review: Whimsy by Thayer King

Interracial, science fiction romance - novel

This was a unique, new, science fiction world. Too bad the author didn’t do it justice by describing it. That was the only issue with this fantastic book. The details were nearly non-existent or extremely empty. No planet description with these new, sometimes violent worlds and very little on space travel.

Now that that’s said, everything else in this book is really great! The sex is smoking; the characters are well written and interesting. The plot was freaking fantastic! Whimsy is kidnapped and is now a slave to the great leader Gaedrian. He is smoking hot but under the influence of a drug called fate that makes him almost in heat until he finds his perfect mate. It’s a really great twist and utterly hot. I totally fell in love with the side character Dark. I NEED to read his story!

If there had been more details, I have no doubt this would be five stars. Whimsy is a solid four star book. Yes, I’d certainly recommend it.  I advise you, do not to read Whimsy near a smoke detector; this book may just set it off.

Romance, Interracial - novella

Review

Picture
Macy's Awakening opens with a nineteen year-old young woman spending a night in jail after being arrested for shoplifting. Her court-appointed lawyer is soon replaced by one of her father's college friends, who becomes her lawyer, protector, and first lover. As the story continues, these two have to decide if they should just be friends or if their feelings for one another can transcend the twenty-three year age gap, racial barriers, and Macy's father's
disapproval.

The characters in the story are believable, and the sheltered naivete of Macy's innocence rings true as she lets go of her fears to embrace her new-found freedom. Although Jerrod is divorced with a daughter, at times his character seems younger as he lets Macy into his heart. I enjoyed the fact that although they fell into bed together relatively quickly, they then pulled back from the physical relationship and true intimacy grew as they lived together awaiting the end of Macy's case. They went from insta-lust to a true relationship tested by
time and separation. I also appreciated the way things ended for them and the epilogue was especially sweet.

Excerpt

“You know we can’t do this, Macy,”  Jerrod said. “Your dad’s an old friend of mine.”

“So?” Big eyed innocence, slow, alluring drawl. “I’m an adult.”

He shook his head. It was sad, really. He’d built his reputation on his eloquence in the courtroom, but here tonight it seemed he’d already run out of arguments.

She leaned closer and whispered, “Is there some big rule that says you can’t have sex with a
client?”

Holy shit! There it was. She was giving him an out, if he wanted to use it.

There weren’t any state statutes forbidding it, provided both parties were over eighteen and capable of giving consent, but she didn’t know that. He could lie and tell her there were
laws against it. It might be enough to discourage her flirtations and allow them to keep things on a more professional basis.

Jerrod stared into her big, dark eyes. He couldn’t lie to her. Hell, he didn’t want
to. “No big rule,” he whispered.

Her lips were right there, inches away, ripe and soft, and—God help him—he bent his head and took what she was offering.

Snaking his hand into the satin curls at the back of her neck, he brought her face up to his and brushed his mouth across her lips. Gently at first, barely touching her, feeling her excited breath mingle with his own.

On stage, the band led off with a classic piece of southern blues. A black female singer with a rich, strong voice began to wail about the treacherous heart of her lover. Feeling the plaintive tones of the song surging through him, he deepened the kiss, slipping his tongue between
Macy’s yielding lips. She opened to him, and he thrust his tongue inside her warm, wet mouth. Several bold strokes and then he withdrew, his blood racing. He heard her whimper above the music. Lifting his head, he glanced around again. No one was paying the least bit of attention. Though the stage was well lit, this grassy area below lay in shadow.

He lowered his mouth again, pressing little nips along her jaw line, drawing away once more, teasing her with his lips until she put an impatient hand on his thigh. He froze. He glanced down. In the dark, he could barely make out the lighter tones of her skin against the indigo of his jeans. As he began to thrust his tongue inside her warm mouth again, her fingers inched up his thigh and cupped his erection.

A groan rose in his throat, but probably only Macy heard it. Her hand moved shyly over the sensitive bulge, pressing and molding it with her fingers. She squeezed him and put her little tongue into his mouth.

It was apparent she hadn’t kissed many guys. The explorations of her fingers and tongue were awkward and experimental. At nineteen, she probably hadn’t been with a lot of men. He wasn’t complaining, only noticing. But then she reached out and grabbed his free hand and brought it to her breast.

He had a brief impression of soft round flesh, topped with a firm protrusion, before he pulled his hand away. He had to. Things were moving way too fast and this was a public place. But God, yes, he did want to hold those sweet breasts of hers in his hands. And more. It was the “and more” that really worried him.

“Not here,” he said into her ear as he removed her hand from his groin.

Phelan D’Shar knew agent Zasha Johnson was his mate the moment she walked into his classroom. At the time, her age and his position as her professor kept him from acting on his desires.

When the biological mating period known as The Wanting hits, it ignites a passion that neither can resist. Will the icy Zasha run from her feelings or embrace the man who melts her heart?

Review

Picture
Picture
Shyla Colt hits the passion nail on the head with a novella of racial boundaries that prove love conquers all and "little green men" are really gorgeous Alpha males that know how to claim their mate.

The first thing I noticed was the editing problem. It really needs to be fixed but as I read more the story overpowered. Those who are strict with the editing might have a problem with this book.

The sexual tension between Zasha and Phelan was so palpable my heart rate skyrocketed through most of the book. Zasha proved to be strong , and stood by her beliefs even when temptation threatened to compromise her at every turn.  I found Phelan to have a big heart for his people and willing to be fair in his feelings for earthlings regardless of the restrictions placed on him as an Alien. They were passionate, caring, and honest with their feelings for each other. Being able to picture these two like a sci-fi movie in my mind is a victory for the author.

I enjoyed this fast read as I couldn't put The Wanting down. The secondary characters were set up with enough content to build the sequels and I liked them immediately. This was fun, exhilarating, and successfully checked the boxes I look for in a “keeper”of a book. Bravo! I look forward to the next books in this series.

Excerpt

Phelan bent to take her lips with his own. The sweet flavor of peaches danced along his
tongue as her nails scrapped his scalp. Her full lips were pillow soft against the gentle nips she administered turned aggressive as they moved from his mouth to his neck and back again. Tiny white teeth marked their territory, and he loved every moment. Zasha’s urgency was a delicious torture that overrode rational thought as he lowered her body down to the soft blanket below. Under the concealment of night they were nothing more than two lovers ensnared by the romance found in the classical chords.

“God, Phelan, I’ve missed this. I’m so cold when you’re not around.”

“Then let me warm you,” he whispered into her ear.

His tongue traced the delicate shell of her ear before he indulged in the column of her neck. Zasha’s content sighs and the feel of her nails on his back beneath his shirt spurred him on. His hips ground into hers, the hardness between them unmistakable.

“Phelan,” she moaned. Her long legs spread as wide as she could manage in the pencil skirt
fit of her dress.

“Shh, you have to be quiet.”

The corners of his mouth twitched upward at her hushed protest when he rolled off her and propped himself up onto an elbow. His lips dipped to cover hers once more as he eased up her skirt. His hand skimmed beneath the crisp cotton of her dress and ran along the damp cloth barrier. Her cream had soaked through her panties and rolled down her thighs.

“I love how wet you get for me, Zash.”

“Phe.” The sound of his name shortened on her lips made his cock twitch. The unconscious familiarization made him growl. A flick of his wrist popped the elastic band off the cloth that barred his entrance. Thick digits drove inside her flooded tunnel. Her slick walls tight around his fingers as she rocked her hips.

“That’s right, Zash, take me inside you.”

Her vagina fluttered in response. She liked it when he told her what to do. When he took the control from her and pushed her boundaries. He added another finger and titled his thrust to hit the sweet spot inside her.

“Come all over my fingers, baby.”

He took her cries into his mouth as she convulsed, her pussy a vise grip around him as her cream overflowed. Phelan removed his hands and smoothed her skirt back down before he sucked his fingers into his mouth. The salty sweet flavor a tangy taste he relished as she slowly came back to Earth.

“Is that better, Zash?” he asked, voice strained as he adjusted his painful hard-on.

“Yes.”

Zasha voice had gone soft, and he could feel her mental retreat. He hooked an arm around her waist and eased her to set beside him as he tucked her beneath his shoulder. Damned if he’d let her run again so soon.

“W-what are you doing?”

“Giving you more relief.”

“Phelan—”

“No.”

“No?”

“Call me what you did before.”

“Phe?”

“Yes.” He breathed. “Why do you fight this, Zasha?”

Ms. Ashton delivers yet another scorcher, with a killer plot, literally. One Wicked Night centers around our heroine, Myka Prentiss, and the man hired to kill her, our hero Justice aka Mr. Dark. (yes he’s as yummy as he sounds). Myka’s been held under her father, Senator Prentiss’s  thumb her whole life.  Like a puppet on astring she’s been manipulate and bullied to conform to his demands. Repressed and unhappy she flees to a club one night seeking an escape from a reality that has become too much.

Freedom is delivered in the form of the sexy, chocolate coated man she refers
to as Mr. Dark.  No names, and just one night are the rules she lays down,
and when Mr. Dark accepts were dished up a steaming helping of down and dirty sex that takes the edge of both characters, and me. If I hadn’t all ready been
missing my hubby who’s away for training, this scene would have done the
trick.

The night of passion is more than a fond memory when it leaves its mark on Mr.
Dark who we come to know as Justice. It’s not like him to linger, but he sees his
her face every where he turns. When he receives the order for the hit and finds her photo in the file for a moment he things he’s hallucinating.

From the moment Justice rescues her, the bond between them is undeniable. More than just sexual, this connection allows them to  bring out the best in each other.     Myka finds thebackbone her Father has almost decimated, and Justice finally conquers the demons of his past so he can move forward. Their transformations were beautiful to wittness, and though their heart aches filled me with sadness. Those events made the love they found so much sweeter.

It was easy to get lost in this world of mystery, intrigue. The twists and turns of
this tale left me with my jaw hanging to the ground before it was  all said and done. This is story telling at its best.

The sex for me was on  a whole other level with, toys, handcuffs, and
anal play that went both ways. By the time the scenes are done you will be ready
to grab your significant other and get to work.

I’drecommend this story to anyone. It’s a romance that’s found the perfect balance of plot,  erotic content and romance. I will say though, if you’re not a fan of graphic sex be prepared to step outside of your comfort zone. You may just find you like over here with us on the darkside.

Excerpt

Once outside, Myka stood against the exterior wall of the club and waited. The
whisper of cool air on the nape of her neck felt like a lover’s caress. She
crossed her arms over her chest, then changed her mind and let them hang loose
at her sides.

He wasn’t coming.

What was she thinking? She shouldn’t have approached him, but she’d wanted to prove her life was still her own. Pretend what she’d overheard wasn’t true, and her father hadn’t sold her to the highest bidder for a senate seat. But he had and here she was, grasping at anything to dull the pain.

The doors opened and Mr. Dark stepped outside. Breath left her body, her spine tingled. His gaze clashed with hers as he approached like a lion stalking its prey. Dark clothes cloaked his bulky frame—leather jacket, shirt, jeans and boots. His features looked like they’d been chiseled from the finest, darkest chocolate. Sharp, dark and smooth. He had high cheekbones, slanted eyes, and just a hint of stubble on his square jaw, framing full lips made to kiss and taste. A voice in the back of her head yelled run, but she ignored it. She sensed he’d like the chase.

He stood in front of her, chest to chest, and placed a hand on the wall behind her. Then he leaned in, licked her earlobe and caught it between his teeth. Her
breath hitched, knees wobbled. A whimper left her throat as her pussy flooded.
“You beckoned?” A Caribbean accent gave his deep voice an exotic flavor.

Nipples hardening, Myka stayed with the bold approach. “I want
you. Under me, on top of me, but definitely inside me.”

Battle lines are blurred as they give in to temptation, but on a ride like this, someone has to come out on top. Who will it be?

A Wicked Ride starts off with Sasha caught back up in the thick of the thieving game she was trying to escape. Sasha turned over a new leaf and started a night club with her brother. But there’s nothing like a threat to your parents to make you change your mind. From the moment the, brash, fierce and sexy heroine lays eyes on Niko she’s intrigued and aroused. That he beat her to the information she desperately needs seems to be inconsequential as she decides she’ll take a piece of Niko as well as the memory stick.  Sasha has a swagger that’s off the charts.
But with her history, skills, and hidden weapons ( she has secret compartments in her boots guys! This chick does not play.)  her confidence is well earned.

Niko is  caramel skinned poured over a tantalizing arrangement of muscles you want to sink your teeth in to. The tattoos that trail down his arm in a sleeve and wrap around his back mixed with internal scars and a sympathetic streak for Sasha he can’t control make him larger than life. “Everything changed the minute you let me inside your body, the minute you screamed my name. Do you understand that?” Damn. Who wouldn’t want  a man like this?! The sex was awe inspiring as the ardor between them flows off the page like molten lava, and made me flush; and not with embarrassment.

The romance blooms like a rose in concrete as drama and the past threatens to tear down what Sasha and  Niko have built. This well written tale has complex characters, intriguing circumstances, and intersection that will make your head spin. Sasha’s antics made me laugh out loud, shake my head and grin. Her raw, I am who I am attitude was one I found highly admirable. The characters back stories plucked at my heart strings as they were revealed piece by piece.

The plot had me tense as I waited for the bottom to drop out from beneath our heroes. Because as we all know Secrets never make friends. The element of crime, I felt like I was watching a well written episode of La Femme Nikita.  A Wicked Ride was just the “Calgon” moment I needed to take me away from everyday life. Seeing such a strong female lead was actually empowering, it’s a trend I hope to see more of. I love heroines who kick ass.

I would recommend this to any romance fan because it truly has a little of something for everyone.  But be forewarned if “Sweet” Romance is your thing this may be too hot to handle.

Excerpt

Niko Davaris bolted upright in the heavy darkness of his hotel room. His naked body dripped with sweat and his chest heaved as he gulped air into his lungs. Remnants of his all-too-familiar dream stayed with him. Visions of blue-tipped flames danced in front of his wide eyes. The smell of gasoline still stung his nostrils after all this time, and the sound of car metal crashing over jagged rocks echoed in his head.

A nightmare I can't seem to get away from. His throat felt parched. He flung off the sheets draped around his waist and dug his fingers into the firm mattress in an attempt to stop his body's tremors.

Click.

The unmistakable sound of a gun cock.

Fuck! Niko froze with his right leg hanging off the side of the bed. How did Vicente find me?

The sound came from the foot of the bed, but the room remained pitch black--he couldn't see a thing. Stiff fingers crept under the pillow for the SIG P90 he kept there.

"Tsk, tsk. Bad boy." The throaty female voice halted his movements. It skitted over his skin and left goose bumps in its wake.

What the hell?

The overhead light flicked on. He blinked at the brightness, then took in his uninvited guest sprawled in the black leather armchair at the foot of the bed. She looked at him through lowered eyelids, head tilted back. The left side of her head was shaved close to the scalp, but the right side appeared untouched. Bangs, kissed with light pink, obscured her right eye. Dark waves brushed a shoulder the shade of creamy sepia. A nickel plated Glock pointed at his head.

"Who the fuck are you?" He couldn't believe this person got the drop on him.

Her bow lips curved into a smile and she dragged her gaze down his body.

A muscle began a slow tick in his jaw.

"Nice view." She licked her lips.

His cock pulsed. Niko fought the urge to cover the wayward organ. She had the gun, so no sudden movements. "Who are you?" he demanded again. Fuck, he hated repeating himself.

She stood, gun still trained on him. She was barely five-foot-five and built. Make that stacked.

Huge breasts spilled out of a pink bustier. An image of his face buried between them flashed in his mind and made his groin tighten. Her smooth stomach was exposed and the tiniest waist, about the span of his hands, flared out to wide hips. Black leggings were tucked into black knee boots complete with silver buckles and almost four inch heels.

Her gaze zeroed in on his cock. "You have something I need, Niko."

Fuck if he didn't get harder at her statement. Then it registered, she knew his name. It could mean only one thing--after hiding for three years, his past had finally caught up with him.

Niko cleared his throat. He needed to distract her to get his gun. Regret churned in his gut at the prospect of hurting a woman, but he couldn't think about that. It was clearly him or her.

"It seems you have me at a disadvantage," he growled.

"I know, right? Hardly seems fair." Her husky laugh sent sweat trickling down his spine.

What was it about this woman that made his long-neglected body react? He studied her heart-shaped face with its pert nose and full lips. Enjoyment sparkled in the depths of her almond eyes.

"Who sent you?" Niko's voice hardened as he grew tired of all the questions and no answers.

His visitor raised a perfectly arched brow. "Oh, honey. Do I look like I take orders?"

"What do you want then?"

All trace of softness vanished from her face. Her eyes became glacial. If Niko didn't know before, now he did. This wasn't someone to be messed with. Unfortunately for her, neither was he.

"The flash drive."

Not the answer he expected. He shook his head. "Sorry, no clue what you're talking about." That flash drive was his leverage against the man who tried to kill him, but put him in a coma instead. Niko waited three years for his shot at Vicente, there was no way he'd let the woman in front of him take it away.

The stranger nodded once as if she'd come to some kind of decision and walked backward to the chair with the burner still trained on him. "Shall I tell you a story, Niko?"

She continued on without waiting for his reply. "I believe I shall." She sat. "So there I am, crawling through the godforsaken air ducts of Harper Royce's office, when three men enter the room dressed in black."

Mother. Fuck. She knew.

"Shall I go on, Niko?" She pursed her lips and waited for his reply.

Mute, he shook his head.

"I thought not. Now, why don't we start over? And you can forget about the SIG, it's mine now." Gaze and gun on him, she reached down with her free hand. Sure enough, when she held her hand up, there was the SIG.

Damn, she's good.

Now, all these years later, Lyric is stunned to discover the new owner of her company is one Grayson St Clair, who never forgot or forgave her transgression.

Grayson wants nothing to do with someone he thinks hurt him so deeply. He can't let go of the past and he can't trust Lyric. It doesn't help matters that while on her watch, the Masonry company she oversaw was hacked into and the company's top secret client list accessed. Reluctantly, Lyric and Grayson team up to find the culprit, with Grayson denying their blossoming feelings at every turn. But when his brother appears, secrets in tow, Grayson will have to choose: live in the past or move on with Lyric.

When we meet our heroine Lyric, she’s a woman with a heavy weight on her shoulders. The company she works for has been betrayed by one of their own and she’s left behind to pick up the pieces when her boss jumps ship. Now she has to break the news to the new owner. She’s grounded and ready to speak her piece at the meeting when a blast from the past derails her plans.  Her golden skinned high toned high school sweetheart is back, and her boss!

Our unlikely hero Grayson St. Claire still holds her heart, but the lies that tore them apart still cut her to the core. After being abandoned his Mother and ignored by his Father Gray is a bit of a mess until Lyric comes along. Which is why her mistaken disloyalty drove him to create a hard shell and adopt a love ‘em and leave ‘em mentality. Gray’s first thoughts when he realizes Lyric is his employee are to make her suffer. At first it’s a signed agreement that keeps him from firing her, and later it’s the realization that those old feelings linger.  The passion betweens them sizzles and melt his icy demeanor.

Miss Ashton does not do weak willed  women in her stories. It’s one of the many things that keeps me coming back to read her work again and again.  Lyrics attempts to seduce are heated and entertaining as she chips away at the ice that surrounds Grayson’s heart. Just when you think he’s about to open up and let her inside a ghost from their past resurfaces. This story has it all, a love story that spans years, humor, mystery, and love scenes that satisfy.

Blindfold Me is a perfect blend of sweet and heat, and I highly recommend this to readers!

Excerpt of 'Blindfold Me'

Seconds after he walked into his office, Lyric burst in. “What the hell is your problem?”

He whipped around to face her. “You’re my problem!”

“What did I do?”

“Why didn’t you let me handle Antoni?”

“What are you talking about?” Confusion crossed her face. “I let you—”

“No, you didn’t. He deferred to you like you were the boss.”

“So?”

“So you’re not, I am.” He poked a finger in his chest.

“Is that what this about? Recognition?”

“No, this is about you.”

“What?” She crossed her arms.

“Zinno had his hands all over you and you allowed it.” He sounded like a child, but she brought it out in him. Jealousy rolled around in his gut, still foreign after all this time.

“You have no say in what I do,” she said.

“I do when it involves my business.” Who am I trying to convince?

“You know what? I’m out of here.” She turned toward the door.

“Is this what you do? Use your body to get your way, like you did with my brother?” As soon as the words left his mouth, he wanted to call them back.

“What did you say?” She whirled to face him, rage blazing out of control as she advanced on him.

“You heard me.”

“You son of a bitch!”

He had the chance to move aside or block her, but he didn’t. A resounding smack echoed when her palm connected with his cheek.

Shit.

Grayson licked his lips, tasted blood. She packed quite a wallop. His face throbbed as if hit by a two-by-four. He squinted at her and flexed his jaw. The anger in her eyes mixed with something else. Something a lot like the need pulsing through him. He stepped back, but she came forward.

“You’re bleeding,” she whispered, her gaze centered on his mouth.

He cursed silently. Doesn’t she realize her effect on me? The rage and fury from moments ago melted away from her. He wanted them back. Those he knew how to deal with, not the need in her eyes. He wanted for things he had no business wanting.

Grayson backed away. She cupped his jaw the same time his thighs connected with his desk. Nowhere to go.
