Rhys needs a second in command and he’s chosen Remi. The problem is, she says no. He’s got to convince her to join his team and a trip through hell might close the deal but the romance is something neither of them expect.

I haven’t heard of this author but once I read that blurb, I knew I had to give it a try. This is a cute, unique romance. Rhys isn’t exactly a bad guy but he’s not an angel in either. In fact, he works in hell. Trying to recruit Remi to join him really made me like Remi. She isn’t swayed by his sexual attraction, at first. It is interesting seeing the business side of hell. Their romance is hot, a little cliché but it’s sure to get your warmed up for your significant other. The world building is really well done and if you haven’t read this author yet you should give her a try!

REVIEW: His Salvation by Michelle King

Seth wakes up one day covered in blood and accused on multiple murders. Not sure who to trust or what happened he turns to his old love Krista. Together they must figure out the trust before it gets them killed.

This is a romantic suspense which is one of my favorite genres. I really liked the characters. Seth has trauma from his past and he’s trying to deal with that. The fact that he’s now accused of murder just complicated the matter. Krista is still in love with Seth, despite not wanting to be. When they’re forced to work together to figure out the mystery it brings their feelings soaring to the forefront. I really loved the mystery and action. The romance is sweet. My only issue with this book is the pace. I almost felt like the author is trying for a word count. Ordinary actions or thoughts are stretched out for paragraphs or even pages. Even the action feels drawn out too much, it pulls back on the excitement and intensity. I did like the answers/twists of what really happened and that ending is satisfying.

Kizzy is not just a thief, she also talks to dead people. When she runs into Ethan it's only to steal gold from this Indiana Jones wannabe. Ethan is a Coletti Warlord and Kizzy has made quite the impression...

Kizzy is a good theif with some unique abilities. I like the twist that she can talk to dead people. It gives her great character a bit more. I liked Kizzy from the beginning. She has a great personality. I love how unhelpful the dead are. Ethan is our sexy Coletti Warlord and once he see's Kizzy, he's smitten. I liked him as well. The chemistry between them is great to break up the adventure of the action. As is common for a Gail Koger books she always throws some comedy in there that keeps you smiling. I really enjoyed Defying the Relic Hunter and I think it's a great add to the series.

Lust breathes inside me. My body is hard, aching steel as I crunch on ice, deliberately, vulgarly, well aware that he’s fighting like hell not to cringe at the one thing that drives him mad. One can almost hear a pin drop as he remains stationary, speaking to me in a silence that’s so powerful, so calming and soothing, that it’s almost meditative.

Naked, bowing with hands clasped behind him, he kneels, respectfully, deathly still like a man praying at the altar. Cramps ricochet through the nape of his neck. Goose bumps blanket his back.  Teeth stave off chattering as cold licks his face, his lips turning purple as the fifty-five-degree room spreads chills straight through his bones like a raging wintery blast.

Despite the crispness of the temperature, the burning pain shooting up his neck like blistering flames, or the hard floor bruising his bare knees, he’s exactly where he wants to be, where he needs to be.  Respecting, yielding, his mind conceding to the biting anguish, the discomfort, the torment.

Like a garden gargoyle, he stoops before me, surrendering, waiting, patient and devoted, for the pangs, the cramps, and the stiffness to all fade away into sheer bliss and searing elation.   My body trembles and aches with dark wicked desire as I swallow the last drops of a Crown and Coke, place the tumbler aside, then lower my hands around his windpipe. There’s still no whimper of a sound when I know he yearns to speak.  There’s not an inch of movement when I’m certain everything hurts.  This is all because these aches, these pains, are like a welcoming hospitality to me, to him, to us, and what’s to come. Placing more force around his neck, I look down to see him beautifully hot and swollen, his tip dribbling clear arousal.

“Look at me,” I command in a menacing whisper.  “Tell me what you need, boy.”

When I lessen my grip, he replies hoarsely. “To hand you everything. To give you my body. To submit only to you.”

My cock aches at the hunger in the piercing blue of his eyes, the urgency to leave his pretty thighs veiled in my marks spreading through me like billowing hot wildfire. His body is my temple—to use, to own, to take, take, and take again.

He’s salvation, redemption, deliverance, an indulgence that’s sweet, rich, and delectable.
And too good to only savor once.

“Come on, trust me,” Brennon whispered.

Her gaze locked with his as she pressed her palm to the window opposite his hand. When she made contact, Brennon could’ve sworn he felt her heat radiate through the thick barrier. And she must have felt something too because a tiny gasp escaped her mouth, causing the glass to fog with her breath. Her breathing increased, her chest moved rapidly, and her eyes dilated, becoming almost completely black from her wide pupils.

Brennon slung the rifle across his back while continuing to keep his sights on the woman. He began speaking in a normal tone. “I’m not here to harm you. I’m here to help.”

She blinked several times, a beautiful bright gold replacing the black as her eyes returned to normal. Her breathing remained a bit elevated, but at least she was breathing. And upright, as opposed to either passed out, drugged, or dead like the others.

“I want to open the door and get you out of there, but you’ve got to promise to remain with me. Can you do that?”

The woman nodded once.

“I’m Brennon.”

She smiled, showing brilliant white, straight teeth. “M-Mikki.” Her voice cracked, its low tone barely above a whisper as it was muffled by the obstacle between them.

Brennon returned her smile. “Mikki.”

She nodded several more times before attempting to speak again. “The door, locked.”

The raspy sound of her voice shouldn’t have sparked something inside Brennon, but it sure as hell did. Turning his concentration to the door, he did indeed find it locked. With nothing around to bang on the knob, and not wanting to damage the rifle any further, he figured he’d have to bust it open with his body.

“You’re gonna have to step back.” He spoke louder so she’d be sure to hear him. “Can you shield yourself with the mattress? I’m gonna have to bust the door.”

Mikki nodded and scrambled to the bed, easily lifting the pitiful mattress and holding it in front of her as she put herself in the corner.

Brennon lifted the rifle off and set it along with the radio on the floor beyond the door jamb. He backed against the opposite wall, giving himself about four feet of distance before launching his body at the door. It easily burst open from the force, banging against the wall. Brennon stopped it from swinging back at him, and when his hand slid around to the inside, he felt dents on the metal. As he started to look at what he was feeling, Mikki threw down her shield and began running toward him. He had just enough time to react as she jumped into his arms. Her body shook as he easily caught her petite form and held her close. Even with the smell of dirt and sweat coating the gown and her skin, he detected an underlying scent of something sweetly musky.

A heady combination.
