This is a shifter story about:
Diego and Saoirse are having their first child.
John is in love with is best friend, Freddy who doesn’t know shifters exist.
Grant finds his mate but doesn’t know what she looks like in human form.
Nathan finds his mate who suddenly forgets him the next day.

That’s a lot going on in one book. I wish the author would have separated these to give them their own book. I had a hard time keeping up with who was who and what their storyline was.
They’re great characters but I don’t get to sink into their stories with so much going on. I really liked the world building. There is such a complicated and cool world of shifters that the author creates. Saoirse is pregnant and she pops up in the story in various scenes. It’s nice to see her progress!

First up is Grant’s story. Monique, his reluctant mate, slapped her kid across the face, so I wasn’t a big fan of hers. Then I came to the sex scene. It’s two wolves having sex. Eww. I really don’t want to read that in a romance. Grant’s main thought is to get Monique pregnant so she’ll stay/mate with him. It is all very unromantic.

We ease into Nathan’s story and another animal sex scene. Why?! Nisha is this mysterious woman who has no idea she’s a wolf or that they mated. It is a great plot! I really love the action with her being kidnapped and the rescue. I enjoyed how she thought he was bonkers crazy and then she finds out the truth. I love Nisha’s personality!

John is the shifter who now has to explain to his mate that werewolves do exist and that they’re fated to be together. Who’s first reaction wouldn’t be to run away? I totally understood Freddy. I really loved their story. I could feel the reluctance and nerves between them but also that spark of hope that it may work out.

If you enjoy shifter books then you should definitely check out Worth The Wait by Fiona McGier!

Book Description

Hot ex-military, desperate woman, tight conspiracy…wait for the explosion!
Peyton West is desperate. Her brother-in-law is dead, her sister is in a coma and no one seems interested in finding any answers. With every door slammed in her face, she’s referred to Scott “Blaze” Hamilton and the men from super-secret Galaxy.

Conducting meetings on a plane and digging into the underbelly of Tampa politics, she sees a ray of hope…and discovers Blaze lives up to his name in more ways than one. She crosses her fingers that the scorching sex will continue to blaze once the killer is found.
Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of violence, murder and attempted murder.

Excerpt

Well, didn’t this just turn out to be a clusterfuck.
“They’re gaining on us,” John ‘Rocket’ Hardin called from the rear of the van.

“I’m pushing this baby as hard as it will go,” Matt ‘Viper’ Roman ground out.

The tension inside the van was so thick they could almost see it. Disaster was always waiting for them around the corner, but Scott ‘Blaze’ Hamilton knew if anyone could get them to the exfil point, it was Viper. No one could outdrive him.

“Damn it,” Blaze swore under his breath.

A previous rescue attempt by another group had failed and put the hostages in jeopardy. That was always when Galaxy was called. When Blaze had done his research, he’d learned that the only reason the hostages were still alive was because the kidnappers needed them to make sure the ransom was paid. At first, it had sounded like a by-the-book rescue. Jim and Nita Rosen, one of America’s one-percenter couples with money to burn, had been kidnapped for ransom. Their daughter, Angela, afraid her parents would be killed if she called in the FBI, had paid it, but the jerkoffs had come back and asked for more.

When the first people she’d hired had botched the job, that was when she’d turned to Galaxy.

For the four highly trained former SEALs, this should have been a simple retrieval. Tapping into every source, they were unhappy to learn that the kidnappers were less than sophisticated. They were offshoots of a cartel whose leader was barely second tier and had big ideas about establishing himself. Kidnapping was his prime source of income while he built up enough of a bank to take on the big cartel chiefs. These people were the most dangerous kind, since they had oversized egos and small brains. The crew who worked for him came from the dregs, which meant things could easily go wrong.

Reaching out to all their contacts, they’d gotten the location where the Rosens were being held—an old warehouse just outside the little town of San Felipe. Only two guards were on duty at any one time, an indication of the kidnappers’ stupidity and arrogance. The one good thing was that the so-called brains behind this kidnapping only showed up once a day, about midday, to check on their victims. It certainly sounded like amateur hour to Galaxy, but sometimes those were the ones that went sideways.

After a drive-by to scope the place out and take pictures, the team planned the operation. They would breach the building, grab the Rosens and get the hell out of there in their borrowed van before the leader and the rest of the bad guys showed up for their daily visit.

‘Saint’ Francis, their official pilot, would be waiting for them at an extraction point with the helicopter.
Easy peasy, right? Wrong. As they’d learned in the military, if something can go wrong it will. FUBAR. Fucked up beyond all repair.
Especially with kidnappers like these, who were not very smart. At first, it was smooth sailing. Only one vehicle, an old car, was parked by the warehouse. They knew from their source that this was the one driven by the two men left to guard the Rosens, so they were good to go. Using an infrared scanner, they were able to determine the location inside of the guards—away from the captives, sitting near the entrance to the warehouse. Breaching the door was kindergarten work for them, as was disposing of the guards before the two knew what was happening. They grabbed the Rosens and hustled them out to their waiting van. Just as ‘Viper’, their designated wheelman, cranked the engine, a car drove up to the warehouse. Three well-armed and unpleasant-looking men tumbled out, even before the vehicle had come to a stop. One looked to be in charge, pointing at the Galaxy van, and at once the others began shooting at them. They pulled out onto the road before the doors were even fully shut, but the other vehicle was after them at once. Blaze thought there must be a hell of a motor in that thing, because they barely got out to the road before the other vehicle was practically on their tail. Now they were racing down the two-lane road to the extraction spot with shots from the vehicle behind them peppering the van they were using. It pissed Blaze off that a cheap-ass operation like this one had managed to grab two high-value targets and get away with it. But even more, that best-of-the-best Galaxy was barely escaping a deadly showdown. “Fuck it all,” Viper cursed. “It’s true, you know,” Blaze reminded his partners. “The only easy day was yesterday.” “And today will be our last,” Rocket snapped at him, “if we let ourselves get beaten by these pieces of shit.” “Never fear. The Viper is here.” Viper was swerving back and forth to avoid the bullets as they sped down the road at a speed that would dry the spit in the mouth of most people. “Yeah?” Blaze shifted in his seat. “Well, get us the fuck out of here, then.”

Title: Hunting Astrid

Author: Thea Landen

Genre: Romance, erotic, scifi, lesbian

TBR Reviewer: Bella

Rating: 4 stars - Recommended Read!

Heat: 4/5 - Smoking Hot!

The beginning is a virtual simulation that real players are in. Astrid is one of the women monitoring the games and evaluating the players. Tabitha is the player who does the best in the games. They meet randomly on the way home and feel an intense attraction for each other.

The romance happens way too quickly. They’re feeling each other up and going at it on their first date. I would have liked more connection between them before that moment. They sex is very hot and I did enjoy that. All too soon the book already has an epilogue about the couple. This is an interesting snippet into this world but it’s too short to really give you a good look. I think if the book is fleshed out with more action, it would have certainly had a solid four stars from me. Let’s talk about that cover for a moment … gorgeous! I also really hope there’s more stories in this world. I like all the technology and advances the author describes.

Hunting Astrid is a quick glimpse into a sexy scifi world.

Handymen 2 - Stand alone

Genre: Romance, Contemporary, erotic

TBR Reviewer: Bella

Rating: 4 stars - Highly Recommended Read!

Heat: 5/5 - Orgasmic!
What happens when a man is trying to escape life by sinking into his work and that work is disrupted by a woman chained to a building…

That’s exactly what happens in An Irresistible Force by Rosanna Leo. Eli is tasked with tearing down an old building to create a new one. Bernie has no intention of letting that happen. When two stubborn people face each other, could it mean true love?

This was a fun read! Eli and Bernie had fantastic chemistry. They often made me smile with their back and forth. I instantly liked them both which made the plot a bonus. It’s an interesting storyline: One trying to tear down the house, the other trying to save it. Neither of them expected to be stuck together during a storm and certainly not to enjoy each other’s company. Their romance was one of those slow burns that works so wonderfully in those Hallmark movies (some of my favorites). This was definitely not sweet like those movies those. The sex was off the charts hot! Wow. I need my husband right now, kind of hot! I can’t wait to read more from this author.

An Irresistible Force by Rosanna Leo is an irresistibly hot romance!

Charlie, the only non-witch in a family of witches, has resigned herself to the role of the black sheep who doesn’t fit in. She lives a normal, boring human life, interrupted only by the occasional family visit over the holidays.

But even a normal, boring human can run into a vampire. Hugo might just be the caring, protective, blood-drinking boyfriend Charlie never knew she needed, even if her family will disapprove.

Before Charlie and Hugo can even go on a proper date, Fae try to ruin Christmas, and Charlie finds herself confronted with her vampire boyfriend’s very hot Elven friend. The three of them will have to take a trip to Faerie to save Christmas before they can figure out who gets to kiss whom first.
More About Elvenswood
There is this saying about how, when you stare into the abyss, this handsome stranger shows up, slings you over his shoulder, and drags you down into that abyss. I'm pretty sure that's how the saying goes at any rate.

For writers, getting dragged down and under can happen so very easily when you find your muse and they turn out to be… well. His name is Valerian Smith, and he's a character with appetites. Strictly speaking, he isn't a muse, and I will probably pay for saying this. It's true, however, that Valerian inspired me to write the Fairview Chronicles, which contain handsome demons, errant cloud monsters, and horny office furniture, among other entertaining features.
Valerian likes to monopolize my mind, but I cannot write exclusively about that one person, no matter what a handsome hunk he may be. So I decided to expand my Fairview universe and set my sights on an entirely different city: New Elvenswood.

Unlike Fairview, New Elvenswood is less dark, less rainy, and I'm pretty sure that you are less likely to get murdered there.

"Charlie looked out the tram’s window. The November sky was hidden behind a lace-like veil of fog that gave the world a magical look. It pulled her mind toward fairy tales, toward Fair Folk on iridescent wings that made the holiday forests come to life with light and icy ornaments. Charlie looked away, looked down to the casserole of caramelized pears she had prepared for the Thanksgiving dinner. Magical. Though not for her." (Holiday Magic, Elvenswood Tales 1)

Of course people travel back and forth. Fairview's beloved and most murder accountant Chris studied law in New Elvenswood before he embraced Fairview's sleet and rain clouds. I expect the one or other character might attempt to relocate to New Elvenswood. After all, Elves are handsome creatures, and there are several living in New Elvenswood.

For me, Elvenswood Tales are an escape hatch. Valerian has a certain pull about him, and he doesn't like people trying to get away from him, certainly doesn't like it if they succeed. I'll be honest with you, Reader, that greedy attention whore is still around. He lingers. He works his way into underwear drawers and glossaries alike. Beware.

So, Reader, if I can give you one piece of advice, try Elvenswood Tales before you even consider heading to Fairview. There are too many things lurking there, and if I don't know if I'll ever be done finding new stories in that dark city, you don't want to get caught in the tales, you don't want to get sucked in and meet that horny desk with the hidden compartments.

But if I were Valerian, I would certainly dare you to explore those Fairview Chronicles, and I'd be smiling while I did it; do you dare, Reader?

Alexa Piper writes steamy romance that ranges from light to dark, from straight to queer. She’s also a coffee addict. The handsome vampire, the human and the sexy elf have to save Christmas in this paranormal world…

The beginning is a little confusing. We’re reading the writing of the character the author is writing. The story is continued as she writes it through the story which I wound up really enjoying. It is like two stories in one. Charlie/Charlotte is heading home for Christmas even though she really doesn’t want to. She hates dresses but opts to wear one. I know exactly how she feels. Now, the scenes are very jumpy, the pace is also slow moving and the editing is rough. I did receive an ARC copy so perhaps that’s the reason? I’m not going to take off any stars for that. That said, the story plays out that she’s going on a date with a handsome doctor but there’s nothing average about this world. Witches, elves and vampires live here too. That puts a nice spin on things. Now the vampire, the human and the elf have to save Christmas. That includes a heavy attraction between all three. There’s a lot of steam toward the end of the book with a m/m/f scene that I really enjoyed.

Jim is a parole officer obsessed with a certain investigation and a certain woman. Calista is that woman who comes into his life to turn it upside down. She comes with some baggage, a dangerous ex-boyfriend. With both of them on trouble how can they deal with their intense attraction?

Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres! Arresting Jeremiah is one of those books that grabs you from the first page and refuses to let go. It begins with an action scene that really paints a picture of Jim’s character. Oh, how I love the tough cop types. Then Calista shows up and their attraction is undeniable. I’m surprised my Kindle didn’t start smoking. From there it’s a wild ride of bullets and kisses. Will they survive his investigation? Will they survive her ex? What happens when Calista and Jim start falling in love with each other? You have to read Arresting Jeremiah to find out the answers! I read the first book a while ago and loved it. I’m happy to say the second book is just as awesome. I can’t wait to see what else this author comes up with!

The blurb is actually a little confusing. I’m not sure if words are missing or some things are out of order. Basically, Rowan and Jeremy are thrust together to save a Christmas theme park. They start out as annoyed partners but end up actually enjoying each other’s company.

I really love the details of the park. It sounds like such a lovely treat to go there for the holidays. The descriptions are so vivid! I want to go on each ride and meet all the elves. Rowan is hard to like. There is something about her attitude that just doesn’t rub me right. Jeremy is easy to like. He has a good personality. I would have loved to go traveling with him. There really isn’t any action, although a misunderstanding gives Rowan and Jeremy some friction. The Magic of Christmas reminds me of those Hallmark movies. They’re a little cheesy but super romantic. Sometimes you just need to forget the world for a little while and this book does the trick for me.

Holly moved away from her mother and her best friend, to get away from a vengeful abusive boyfriend. Now she's indulging her inner introvert to avoid being noticed, even working from her small apartment as a writer. She's never told the two who love her the most what she was experiencing because she was ashamed that she stayed with him for so long. Plus the police didn't believe her when she went to them. Her friend talks her into going onto a social network site. Feeling brave, she puts up an entry for the site and waits to see if anyone notices. Alexander was burned by a past girlfriend that he caught in flagrant delecto with her male secretary. So he's sworn off women and dating. His assistant Zach, his best friend from long ago, goads him into signing up for the same social network site. Soon he and Holly are texting each other, bonding over movies they watch separately in their homes, and sharing only their first names with no pictures. When Holly starts receiving packages with ominous threatening notes, she knows she's been found. She decides to go to a lawyer for advice. Guess who the lawyer is?  Yup. Alexander.

This book is written in alternating chapters of first-person. First we get Holly's insights, then we get Alexander's. I liked how they both are tentative about falling for someone new after their previous experiences. Holly is especially skittish. Alexander imagines doing all kinds of naughty things with Holly, but understands that he'll have to take things very slowly with her. There's such a fine line between even mild BDSM play, and real abuse, especially to someone who has suffered real pain from another man's hands. His offering to have her move into his guest bedroom is contrived, but it works out well in the story. He's keeping her safe, and she blossoms knowing she's being protected. This allows their romance to proceed. When they act on their impulses, the heat level is explosive as well as healing for Holly. No one has ever treated her with such respect, or consideration for her feelings. Alexander's discovery that Holly reciprocates his desire is sweet and steamy.

Please be aware that there is a disclaimer at the start of the book stating that the publisher and the author do not condone non-consensual sexual activities in any way. For some this will be a trigger, since Holly not only talks about what has been done to her, but there is an intense scene where the abusive man captures  her again. This time the injuries, both physical and mental, will take her some time to overcome. Alexander has to go into therapy to deal with his guilt over not being able to protect her, though he swore he would. However, this is a romance, and there is a happy ending, including a steamy scene in the Epilogue!

Behind Two Screens is a very enjoyable read.

Vivian Hayes is one very lucky woman. She has two men who adore her--twins, though not identical. Since the genres listed older woman, the twins must be younger than her. They're all committed to their relationship, which involves love as much as great sex. Ever since her mother remarried years ago, Viv's been lusting after her step-brother Noah. They had a kiss once, and she's tried to avoid him ever since. She's already got two men so why complicate things? So she told Noah they needed to do alternate Christmases with her mom and step-father. This is her year to show up with her twins in tow. Much to her chagrin, Noah is there this year also. Now what? Can he convince her that it's fine to have a harem of three? And what will her guys think?

This was an easy read. The writing was smooth, and characters were clearly described. I found it odd that Vivian's mom and step-father are not only fine with her bringing her two men into their house for the holidays but they're both aware of how Noah feels about her. Indeed, her mom encourages her to give him a chance to be a part of her life. How...enlightened. Vivian's job is at Cowan Enterprises,  run by Sabine, who values Vivian highly. They sell sex toys, but also  run parties where employees, called Kitty Cats, dress seductively and weasel important secrets out of rich and powerful men. Her escort business is actually an information collection agency, and "her database could ruin the lives of many very powerful men." What does she use this information for? We don't really find out. But the whole idea struck me as rather sexist--kind of a Playboy club run by women who delight in using men--only occasionally having sex with them.

There's a sub-plot about Vivian's mom who has a soft spot for some cats who've been living in a barn that the town owns by default, after the owner died. There's a group of rich powerful men who want to knock the barn down to build something else, and Vivian is enlisted to help her mom help the cats. How? With a Kitty Cat party, of course.

I wanted more focus on the sexual relationship enjoyed by the soon-to-be harem of men that all want Vivian, with no jealousy, no possessiveness, and no touching of each other. Although considering that two of them are brothers, that would be weird and gross. There are frequent and inventive sex scenes. The one I was waiting for, the three-way penetration scene, was described from Noah's point of view, not Vivian's. What? A woman gets to have three hot men at once, and I only read about how much the new man in the group enjoyed himself? I felt cheated.
