- Strong Enough - More Than Everything - Something in The Way he Needs - The Half of Us |
An ancient legend spanning eras, continents, and worlds. To some, it’s nothing more than a dream. To others, a pretty fairy tale handed down through the generations. For those in critical need of their own happy ending, a gift. For sheltered Lily Kiers, it’s all too real. Her escape from danger, straight into the arms of her destiny. Thrust into a realm made of fantasy and unbridled passion, Lily faces violent resentment and jealousy from extremely powerful enemies. Amidst fierce creatures whose very existence defy all common sense, Lily pieces together a past she could never have imagined. Claimed by Kord, Prince of Battle Draconian, their love will not be denied, even as malevolent forces plot to rip them apart. Excerpt
As hard as she struggled for calm, tears leaked from her eyes when he raised long, sharp claws and reached for her. Too frightened to move, she turned her head away. The thrumming of her heart pounded through her entire body as she waited for the sharp talons to slash into her. Instead, the dragon carefully nudged her cheek until she was forced to raise her face and meet its magnetic stare. “I said I wouldn’t hurt you.” Then slowly and gently the creature unfurled its tail, the very tip pressing against her lower back as if encouraging her to gain her feet, and held her steady until she was standing securely on the ground. Before Lily had a chance to run, there was a bright flash of light, then a shimmering of brilliant colors. Her jaw slackened at the sight of a man standing before her. An extremely handsome, naked man.

Book Description:
The president has announced that Earth is going to collide with a rogue moon, and in the process, our entire planet is going to be smashed to bits. As one would expect, upon hearing this news, humans went ballistic. It was as if every sports team in the world lost their championship game at the same time. No car was left unrolledâbut oddly enough, Taco Bell remained open and made unfathomable profits in the last days. Apparently, Doritos Locos® Tacos were a popular last meal.
Autumn (who for the purpose of this retelling asked to be portrayed as drool-inducing hot with kick-ass ninja skills) has just been handed the task of saving all of humanity. With the help of her unbelievably sexy alien boyfriend and her kleptomaniac friend with fire-retardant hair, Autumn takes a spaceship and races to save her fellow humans by using the Ark of the Covenant. Along the way, she discovers how sheltered people are from the truth of extraterrestrials and their power to either protect us or destroy us.
Stupid government.
Grab a bottle of wine, a shipload of snacks, and prepare to take a ride on this humorous chick lit romantic sci-fi paranormal adventure. If youâre into Ancient Aliens, conspiracy theories, UFOs, crave a little sexy time in your reading, are curious if we were genetically engineered (like the Sumerian cuneiform texts claim), and are dying to find out the meaning of life, then this book is for you.

Even though Iâm a huge fan and would never give up my membership, I donât think Costco is the bargain others tout it to be. Usually you can get cheaper prices at Target, if you compare pound for pound and factor in waste. Unless, of course, you need a silo of soda or one thousand packets of gravyâthen Costco can come in handy. Iâve heard a number of people spout on that the gas prices are worth the membership fees alone. I call BS on that. Gas runs about ten cents per gallon cheaper at Costcoâif youâre luckyâso on average youâre saving a buck per fill-up. I suppose this would be cool, except for the forty-five minutes you spend in line waiting to get it. You forfeit the stupid dollar you saved idling to get the gas in the first place. Once you add the membership fee into the mix, I could argue that youâre losing money unless you fill your tank every day of the week.
That said, there is one thing about Costco thatâs worth the price of membership alone: the free samples. Itâs virtually a complimentary tapas bar, providing a multitude of scrumptious morsels.
And as if management subconsciously knew the world was ending, they presented us with quite the smorgasbord that day: Hot Pockets, deli sandwiches, sushi, curry chicken, turkey meatloaf, potato salad, chili, Spanish rice, jelly beans, energy bars, chocolate-covered nuts, and fruit juice. Normally, I make it a rule not to be the butthead that goes for seconds, but under the circumstances, I didnât care. On my third trip to the Hot Pocket stand, the lady gave me a dirty look, and I almost didnât snatch another. But the gooey artificial cheese oozing from the slice made it impossible for me to resist snagging an additional helping.
In the refrigerated section, we found a hidden sample station that had jalapeño soft pretzel nuggets with nacho cheese dipping sauce. Score! When we went to grab a box out of the freezer to take home, we discovered a plethora of new products we hadnât yet stimulated our taste buds with. In particular, there were these delectable double-fried pork and shrimp egg rolls. Yes, double-fried, with a bonus layer of tempura coating.
âThose look so flippinâ yummy,â Emma said.
âShould we get them?â
âI kinda want them now.â
Feeling reckless from the knowledge of our imminent demise, I evaluated our options. An empty sampling station with a toaster oven teased me at the end of the aisle. I nudged Emma and pointed at it. She smiled in agreement. Opening the freezer, I snagged a package of rolls, and we took it over to the station.
âShouldnât we put on some kind of disguise?â Emma asked.
She had a point. We definitely were not dressed for the part. Thinking on my feet, I rummaged inside the stationâs cabinet and pulled a pack of hairnets from the depths. We snapped a couple on.
âPerfect!â I said, appraising Emmaâs netted noggin.
Not wasting any more time, we tore open the box of rolls and threw them in the toaster oven. Within seconds, a crowd buzzed on all sides of us, like a swarm of flies after a warm pile of poo, waiting to get their mitts on our precious haul.
I leaned in toward Emma and whispered, âI hadnât planned on sharing.â
âMe either. What should we do?â
A ding alerted us that the rolls were ready, and the sound was like a dinner bell for the drooling throng. We withdrew the crispy deliciousness; the smell was intoxicating. The mob gathered closer, a pack of rabid dogs moving in for the kill.
âWe do apologize, everyone,â I announced. âIt appears that these egg rolls might be defective. We need to submit them to quality control.â
The crowd moaned in disappointment.
Emma and I each wrapped a roll in a napkin and made a break for it, tossing our hairnets in a passing cart as we went. Behaving like junior high kids who had gotten away with skipping class, we giggled with pride and sprinted into an empty aisle. Hidden behind the wastelands of the toilet paper section, we chowed down at bionic speed, blowing out the heat and fluttering our hands wildly at our tongues because they had been scorched by the nuclear inferno of minced shrimp and cabbage.
Keeping my eyes peeled for any security on their way to nab us, I said, âCan you imagine having to spend our last few days on Earth in jail for looting egg rolls?â
About the Author:
Anna-Marie Abell grew up in a trailer park. Well, several actually. Her trailer was on wheels so she got to experience the Pacific Northwestâs vast array of mobile home parks as her parents moved her from one to the other. Somewhere along the way, she got totally into UFOs. Probably because she was hoping extraterrestrials would come and abduct her. But they never did. Luckily for her she was smart, because her only hope of escaping trailer life was college and a full scholarship. Moving to sunny California on her almost full ride to Chapman University, she was well on her way to her new life. Two bachelor degrees later (Film and Television Production and Media Performance), and several honors and awards for her accomplishments, she managed to start working in an almost completely unrelated industry from her majors: infomercials.
It was in college that she got bit by the âancient alienâ bug after listening to Zecharia Sitchin on Coast to Coast AM. In her pursuit to uncover the truth, she has spent the last twenty years researching the ancient Sumerian cultureâin particular their âgodsâ called the Anunnakiâand their connection to the creation of the human race. What she found changed her life, her beliefs, and her understanding of the universe and everything beyond. Her humorous science fiction trilogy, The Anunnaki Chronicles, is a culmination of all her research, her borderline obsession for all things paranormal, and approximately 2,300 bottles of wine.

A Sleigh Ride Home
By Roxanne Rhoads
The moonlight glittered off the freshly fallen snow. It was like taking a sleigh ride through a forest of crystals. Everything sparkled, glimmered and shimmered. It was truly beautiful. Caleb was really trying so hard to give me the âgood, old fashioned Christmasâ experience that I had always dreamed of; complete with a one horse open sleigh, fresh falling snow, and a thermos full of hot cocoa.
The blanket started to slip off my lap so I tugged it up to make sure it didnât fall to the floor of the sleigh.
Caleb glanced my way, âAre you cold Maggie?â
How could I be cold with Caleb, the man of my dreams and fantasies sitting beside me? I had wanted this man since high school, when he was the popular, hot guy that was so nice to everyone. Including a skinny, scrawny girl with braces and glasses. Me. âNo, Iâm actually quite warm. The night doesnât feel that cold and between my thick leggings, sweater, wrap and the blanket I am toasty warm.â
âGood, I didnât want you to get cold. After living in Texas for the past couple years I bet you arenât used to the cold, Michigan winters anymore. I was afraid youâd be freezing by now.â
Caleb was always so wonderful. He was the kind of guy that was always concerned about people. We had been pretty good friends. He was so sweet he even took me to our senior prom seven years ago. I was sure heâd just done it to be nice because he felt sorry for me since no one else had asked me to be their date. Now I wasnât so sure that he had taken me to the prom just to be nice. Maybe he had real feelings for me. The kind of feelings I have for him.
This was only the second time I had seen him since I left to go to college in Texas right after graduation but I had never stopped thinking about him.
It seemed that he never stopped thinking about me either. He sent me letters, cards and emails from time to time always asking when I was coming home. This was the first year I had replied telling him that Iâd be home for Christmas. Usually my mom flew out to Texas to spend the holidays with me there. This year though my mother had finally met someone special and she wanted to spend the holidays with himâ¦and me. Honestly I was glad. I had really begun to miss Michigan lately, especially at Christmas. There was nothing like a snow covered Christmas.
âNo matter how long I stay in Texas Iâll always be a cold blooded Michigan girl.â
His smile twinkled as bright as the snow, âGlad to hear that.â
âYou know Caleb this was awfully nice of you to invite me on this sleigh ride. The drive through town seeing all the Christmas displays and lights was fun and then here, in the woodsâ¦it is so still, so quiet and so utterly beautiful. It is a dream come true.â
âMaggie, I remembered that last Christmas we spent together before graduation and how you would always talk about wanting an old fashioned Christmas with sleigh rides and hot cocoa and even ice skating. I have always wanted to give that to you. Iâve had old Drew here,â he motioned to the horse, âand this sleigh for five years now hoping youâd come home for the holidays so I could give you the Christmas sleigh ride youâve always dreamed of.â
âReally? Caleb, I had no idea. But why?â
âWhy? Maggie isnât it obvious? I love you; Iâve been in love with you since middle school. Iâve tried to put you out of my head, Iâve tried dating other people but itâs you. You are the one thatâs always had that special place in my heart.â
My eyes welled up with tears as his words rang true. My heart swelled telling me I felt the same way. All this time I hadnât let myself believe in my feelings because I feared rejection.
Caleb pulled the sleigh off the trail and into a small clearing.
âMaggie would you consider coming home?â
âCaleb, I am home,â I said as I threw my arms around his neck.
âReally? To stay? With me?â he mumbled into my neck.
âYes, with you, for as long as youâll have me,â I cried.
âI hope forever isnât too long for you,â Caleb said with a smile as he pulled away from my tear soaked embrace to look into my eyes.

Tevy’s is seeing angels. Yeah, angels in the sky fighting each other. They think she’s lost her mind so she’s sent to a mental hospital and learns to lie to everyone, even herself. When she’s free and still seeing the angels, she keeps it to herself until the boy next door sees them too. As Tevy becomes aware of Dillions affection toward her they both learn the truth, as terrifying and dangerous as it is… I’ve read a thousand angel stories (estimating that count) and after a while they all start to blend together. This book is different. The Buddhism gives it this unique quality that really made this story stand out. I admit I have no idea how accurate it is because I don’t know anything about Buddhism. I had no problem following about different levels of heaven and how their wings don’t have feathers but it’s more faith and magic. Honestly, even without that hint of romance it is still interesting. Tevy, my God, the stuff this author threw at this poor girl. Losing her parents, seeing angels, everyone thinking she’s lost her mind and she’s sent into a sketchy mental hospital. This did make me instantly like Tevy. She’s been through hell and she’s come out of it broken but stronger. Dillon is so adorable! He’s silly and sweet and his funny/sarcastic dialogue makes me laugh out loud. This is an intriguing story peppered with first romance and six armed creatures trying to eat Tevy. Definitely entertaining. I’m excited to see what else this author will come up with! If you want to read a different take on angels give Lie to Me a try! Excerpt:
Missoula Montana, 1888
Elizabeth Sanders could vanish right now, and no one would notice. She blended in with every other woman by wearing her matching pinstriped walking skirt and blouse. Each store clerk and patron in Missoula, focused on their affairs without a care to their neighbor, would fail to notice if she walked through Higgins Street naked, let alone disappeared into thin air. They certainly wouldnât look twice when she came back this way a different person.
Hundreds of people bustled in the heat of the Montana sun doing the same old things, the same old ways, with nothing to show for their trouble but dirty shoes. If Elizabeth was going to get her shoes dirty, she preferred to have fun doing itâ¦the Devil May Care way.
Navigating the pedestrian-riddled streets was treacherous at best. Times like this made her wish sheâd taken her grandmotherâs buggy. At least then she wouldnât be jostled around like a dirty shirt in a churning wash bin. A deep exhale boosted her determination enough to risk a step to the side to duck around a particularly slow matriarch. The small triumph lasted only a moment before she slammed into a hard chest.
The soft fabric of a well-tailored suit skimmed her cheek a split second before warm hands reached out to steady her. The touchâfirm, yet gentleâmade her feel like she now balanced on the back of a high-strung and wild mustang as it fled down a hill with uncontrolled freedom. She hadnât needed the extra hand. Wasnât in danger of falling over. What sort of dullard rescues a woman in no need of liberation? She pulled away and adjusted her skirts as he let go. Her mind focused once more.
âPardon me.â She glanced up to a familiar face. One sheâd seen many times in her dreams. Her breath failed as her brotherâs friend, Garrett Jones, peered down at her with silver-clouded eyes. Oh, how he made the world spin whenever he drew near. His handsome, yet rugged, face made her fingers ache to touch the severe lines of his jaw. The rich scent of tobacco infused with lavender and some sort of citrus drifted on the breeze. Eau de Cologne. A fragrance only the wealthiest of men in Montana could afford. A scent belying the canvas pants, spiked boots, and sturdy cotton shirt he sported every time sheâd seen him on the train platform.
âElizabeth.â Did he say her name, or did she dream the word? Oh to be noticed by a man like Garrett Jones. The only man who could make butterflies flit around in her stomach and fear slide through her chest in the same confusing moment.
The hem of her dress hovered mere inches from his feet. Her face heated and heart began to pound. Try as she might, she couldnât keep her eyes off the man who led the Devil May Care boys. The man who held her future in his hands if she succeeded in becoming part of his crew at the logging camp. If things went the way she planned, sheâd be staring into his amber and steel speckled eyes for the rest of the season. Did he truly recognize her after all these years of no more than a passing glance?

Excerpt:
âYouâve been a naughty girl havenât you?â A deep voice whispered in my ear.
I jumped a foot in the air. I was in the back room digging through stacks of holiday decorations looking for a tree topper. The mall was closed and I thought everyone, other than the guard out front, was gone.
I turned around with a frown and found the mall Santa standing there. Great, was the creep plying me with his Christmas shtick because he thought I had a kid or was he trying to hit on me? At least he didnât reek of alcohol like the last one. I looked him up and down. This guy was young and from what I could tell good looking under the fake beard, white fluffy fur and red velvet. Around six foot two and built solid he wasnât your typical mall Santa at all. His bright blue eyes twinkled with mischief and full red lips smiled through his fluffy beard.
âBuzz off, Santa. Iâm not in the mood.â It had been a very long day. Lines of screaming children filled the Christmas Zone. I was in charge of display and marketing. Even though I didnât have to deal with the little brats I still had to make sure the lines were long and the advertising and décor was working its holiday magic.
âBut youâre always in the mood, arenât you Sylvie?â His deep voice caressed me, teasing me.
I stopped and stared.

Jenna Darrow lost her husband and child in a car accident. Since then she’s been on the verge of breaking down. One night with a bottle of booze and a shotgun brings her face to face with the Ancient, a vampire, who gives her a chose. Life or death? When she wakes up with some alien device planted in my spine Jenna knows her life will be forever changed...
… Jenna! I loved Jenna when she is introduced in Shades of Midnight. Now, she has her own book. After surviving the trauma of her family dying and then surviving the Ancient, she’s raised the bar in badassery. She’s a former cop who doesn’t take the knowledge of the breed or what’s inside her lightly. Her reactions are very natural and I love how she deals with Brock. These six feet plus, chocolate skinned man has gotten too closer. He has feelings for her that even he doesn’t understand. They start a great dance but of course it’s interrupted by freaking Dragos and his crazy plan to rule the world. There’s tons of action in this book sprinkled with romance which has become the norm for this talented author. I for one can’t wait to read the next book! Brooklyn is done with Hollywood. She has terrible directors, cheating boyfriends and though she doesn’t know it yet, her life is in danger. She’s a Descendant of the Gods and only two sexy men can keep her safe.
Brooklyn has no idea what’s she in for when she meets Antonio and Stefan. The sexy hunks are her bodyguards but some strange things start happening. Once she finds out who she really is and that she’s mate to these guys the story screams romance. Although I like the story, I kind of feel like all the plots are blending together in this series. The action is great and I like the bits of humor thrown in. The secondary characters are always so well written and fleshed out. This is the fifth book in the series and I’ve read all the previous ones. They’ve been enjoyable. If you like mythology and heavy romance then you’re going to love Heroes of Olympus by April Zyon! Christy is Santa’s daughter and the sexy muscular frosty has had a thing for her. He resisted and left but on his return, he may just give in. When Christy is taken by his old enemy he knows it’s time to claim his mate…
I found the beginning of the book very stiff and telling. The plot itself is fun and interesting if not very fleshed out. I don’t understand why there are mates like a shifter book and are they in the North Pole? Did I miss that part? The world building isn’t very extensive. The editing is also rough in places. Anyway, Christy is stiff but the Jack point of view is fantastic. I had no problem connecting with his character and wishing I ‘m a baker so I could catch his attention! There’s even a bit of action and suspense. The romance is good but again not quite there. She accepts him too quickly. The plot shows real imagination! This is a cute story that has the makings of being fabulous. I’m really looking forward to seeing what else this author can create. |
