Jory Logan has made some bad decisions in her life. During a robbery gone terribly wrong she faces a long prison sentence. A strange woman makes her an alternative offer for her punishment instead of jail. Her punishment will be to spend four years in the past, learning the lessons she was never taught. Jory accepts the offer but, doesn’t believe this to be possible. She is shocked when she wakes to learn she in in Virginia the year 1785. Nial is one of the brothers that takes her in. He tries to keep the relationship strictly business but as time goes by he falls for Jory. What will happen when her four years are up. This is original and interesting. Jory and Nial have great chemistry throughout. The details are great and spot on. I felt like I was back in Virginia in 1785. Reading about Jory and Nial's romance is wonderful. That ending is beautiful too. This book is a great take on time-travel and historical romance. What I really like is that the story has a modern and fresh take on this somewhat stale genre. A doctoral dissertation on American culture of the 1920's becomes a mission of mercy when Cameron discovers a startling secret hidden in the letters and journals of the Bell family of Evansville, Indiana. Entranced by an antique photograph of young socialite Candice Bell, murdered in 1925, Cameron tracks down her modern-day relatives in search of a cave in California rumored to make time travel possible. In a nice break from the erotic romance genre, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the well-thought-out journey of Cameron Coelho from his lonely life in 2017 back to the roaring twenties in search of his true love to prevent her untimely demise. Time travel is always a tricky business, and especially so when you plan on saving someone who was supposed to die nearly a century ago. It was a bit odd that a scholarly fellow like Cameron, having knowledge of the great science fiction postulations of the 20th century, would handily disregard the risks of altering history for the sake of his own happy ending, even duping some of the trusting members of the Bell family in order to do so. But it turns out that time travel is indeed safe and possible with their help, and the detail to which Professor Geoffrey Bell prepares our hero for his trip is both ingenious and plausible. I also enjoyed the author's characterization of Candice Bell herself. I can't say for sure if any girl from the 1920s would think or behave the way Candice does, but Heldt certainly paints her as a "thoroughly modern Millie" against the backdrop of a post-war period of progress and enlightenment. Readers who admire the works of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne will find Indiana Belle enjoyable! GIVEAWAY: Mr. Heldt is giving away an ecopy of his book. by Anne McCaffrey Genre: Science Fiction, Time Travel Length: Novel, Paperback (purchased) TBR Reviewer: Christine K. Rating: 4 Stars - Recommended Read Oh, how much I loved this book. It was boarding epic! Lessa is a slave but rises up thanks to the Dragonmen of Weyr. It’s a wildly plotted book with dragons, Threads that fall from the sky killing all greenery, angry lords, time travelling. As you can see only 4 stars. Well, there is a story behind that. For one, too many characters with all their details. The side characters could have been glanced over and it would have helped the pace. Then there were the names, F’nor and F’lar. That was just one pair. They were too close together and sometime I had to pull out of the story to remind myself who was who. That said, the action was fantastic. There wasn’t really any romance but the plot made up for that. I just could not stop reading about the queen dragon and trying to save the world from the threads. I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series. ![]() Falling to the Viking Author: M. Garnet Genre: Time Travel, contemporary romance Length: 58 pages Rating: 4 Stars - Recommended Read Heat: 3 - Blush Worthy Can I be cliché and say Falling to the Viking , is a blast from the past. Kathyrn visits Denmark to meet her Aunt, looking for information about the parents she never knew. What she finds instead is a one way ticket back to the past! During a trip to a local museum a mishap with an elevator lands her in a foreign land where she doesn’t speak the language. Full of action , adventure, and some heavy handed dominance, seriously , think about what it would be like in a Viking village in the 1600’s, there were some intense and hard to take scenes.
I won’t ruin it, but I will say it’s not for the squeamish. The ending came up fast, so I never felt we got to know the hero, or get a good feel for how she’d handle being in the time, or if she’d ever return home. It felt more like a serial than a stand alone. For that reason and the quick transition from almost captive status to acceptance, I gave this a 4. However, f you don’t mind a bit of violence *coughs*…their Vikings, and you’re looking for something different and steamy, it might be right up your alley. M. Garnet does an excellent job of transporting you not only from America to Denmark, but back in time. Her descriptions truly brought the story to life. This is an interesting short that answers the question what if you got thrown back in time. I was hooked from the moment seventeen year old, Dani pricked her finger on a magical rose bush. Together Again is a humorous, well-thought out, sensual take on time travel. An avid Dr. Who fan, I came with high expectations. I have to say Ms. Barbour delivered. She weaved from the past and present with the sure strokes of a strong swimmer.
Dani is nothing short of incredible. Aged beyond her years, the seventeen year old posses a witty intelligence I found enchanting. With a hard to please and extremely controlling mother, this adventure couldn’t have happened to a more perfect person, which really made you believe the way she reacted to events that unfolded. The hero Troy is a sexy investigator on the trail of “the” big story when he’s whammed by a spirit who turns his entire world upside down. Beneath his tough exterior lies the heart of a generous man who’d sacrifice to help someone in need. I enjoyed watching him grow and figure his way out of the situations he was placed in. I want to say more but it might ruin your experience with spoilers, and that’s just not my style. *winks* Full of twists, turns, and a wide range of emotion, this is a satisfying tale you’ll read time and time again. The romance scenes in the book were made so much hotter by the undeniable connection that existed between Dani and Troy. I loved that this romance came from such an internal place. Without the trappings of external façade you’re staring at the 'Soul' of a person. I highly recommend this very unique story of love and growth. Joel Smith, a college student from Seattle, is travelling through Montana when he discovers an abandoned mine. While exploring the mine Joel sees a blue light just before blacking out. When he wakes up and gets out of the mine he sees that the ramshackle buildings that stood outside the mine now look very new. And the cars that pass by look nothing like the cars he saw around when stepped into the cave. Joel realizes it is no longer the year 2000, but the spring of 1941. On a whim he travels up to Seattle, where he happens to meet his own grandmother and her group of friends. When he first meets one of the girls in the group, Grace Vandenberg, he knows he has found the love of his life. But when Joel gets the chance to go back, he suddenly has to decide whether to go back alone or stay and risk changing the course of his own life. This was a great well-thought-out story with a lot of likeable and fun characters. Joel and Grace are a fun couple, but Joel´s grandmother Ginny and another girl in the group Katie are great characters too. Joel is thrown into this strange situation, but he really lands on his feet and fits in very easily in the 1940´s. It is an easy read, but still with a lot of depth. Joel lands in 1941 just before the US enters WWII, and you really feel for him, knowing how so many things will change, but not being able to tell anyone about it. Time travel is always a tricky theme, but I think the author handled it great. All the details seemed to mesh and come together nicely, and the twist at the end was perfect. I really liked this story, although there were some bits every now and then that were slow. This is a romance, but it is also sci-fi and historical, all rolled in to one, and should appeal to a wide range of readers. Purchase HereComment below to enter the contest. Timewarp Inc by Cotton.E.Davis Genre: Sci-fi Length: novel TBR Reviewer: Mark Rating: 5 Stars - A Must Read! Mike Garvin is a centurion fighting in Gaul alongside Caesar and his mighty legions in 51 B.C. But Mike is also a time traveler from the Twenty-First Century who has spent the last nine years sending back secret footage of his exploits to the future. He thought he was there for the duration and was destined to live out his days as a Roman Soldier. He was wrong..... Following a visit from a fellow traveler, Mike finds himself returning to the future to be briefed on his next assignment. Middle Eastern terrorists have managed to obtain access to time travel equipment and plan to use it to go back and assassinate Christ. Garvin has been given the task of stopping them before the future can be changed irrevocably. Gwen is a Historian and expert on Ancient Aramaic, the language spoken at that time in Nazareth. It is her job to brief him in the local dialect and get him up to speed on speaking the native language but, somewhere along the way, the pair begin to fall in love. When Mike is sent back in time again, their relationship is tested to the limits ~ not least because Gwen is a believer and Mike an agnostic. But even Mike starts to question his beliefs when he finally meets the man himself..... If there is one thing I love more than books about Zombies, it’s stories about time travel. The idea fascinates me that we might travel back to the days of our ancient ancestors and see first-hand how they might have lived. And if there is one period of time that particularly interests me, then it would have to be the days of The Roman Empire. Since visiting Rome on my honeymoon many years back, and even before then if I’m honest, I have always been fascinated with the Romans and the whole era in which they lived. This book then sounded absolutely ideal for me and, upon receiving it for review, I became positively excited about the thought of reading it! Thankfully, my anticipation was rewarded. This was an engrossing read that was very well written and absolutely brilliantly conceived! The whole complexities of time travel are suitably glossed over so that readers are given a basic idea of how it all works without getting too bogged down in technicalities and the lead characters wonderfully fleshed out and made believable within moments of introduction. Without giving anything away, the whole issue of Jesus’s divinity is suitably addressed but never wholly confirmed or denied throughout and though there is much evidence that he is more than he appears to be, this is never what the book is about. The main crux of this novel addresses the issues and concerns, the inevitable problems that can arise when you start messing around with time! I loved the ending to this book and, though it feels as though this particular chapter has been closed, it will be interesting to see where the author goes from here as it appears he plans more books in the series. I, for one, would certainly be interested in reading the further adventures of Timewarp Inc and look forward to future entries in the series! From the initial cover art, I was a tad worried that this might just be a bit of a turkey but, I am pleased to report, the perfect opposite is true instead! I enjoyed this much more than I expected to and found it an insightful and enjoyable read that almost made me feel as though I had been transported back in time myself! Purchase HereThe Curse of the Scarab King by Wend Petzler Genre: historical romance, time travel romance, romantic suspense Length: Novel (238 pgs.) TBR Reviewer: Amanda Rating: 4 Stars - Recommended Read Heat: 3 Handcuffs - Blush Worthy In an interesting mix of time travel, ancient curses, Egyptian gods, magic, and evil-want-to-take-over-the-world megalomaniacs, this story begins and ends in the 15th century BC. In Egypt, Setti suddenly becomes the Pharaoh Regent for his newborn nephew when his brother is fatally bitten by a poisonous snake in his own bedchamber. While the rest of Egypt mourns, the Sister-Wife of Amenenhet plots to take power as a Pharaoh Queen and turn the country away from worship of the sun god. Her curse casts Setti in between life and death where for 4000 years he waits until archaeologist Kate Martin stumbles across clues that lead to his hiding place. Once he is awakened, both Setti and Kate are swept back to his time to set Egypt to rights and reclaim the throne from his sister. This story reminded me of a good action-adventure flick - who cares if it fits historically or how other-worldly some aspects become, the story keeps rocking along building in excitement and anticipation. Watching Kate and Setti work their way through all the pitfalls thrown in their way together was exciting and it was fun to see them fight their growing attraction due to knowing Kate needed to return to her own time. Even though all the odds were stacked against them, I couldn't help but expect them to find a way to defeat the evil queen and escape her curse on Setti. The book was fairly well-written and although at times it seemed all the details didn't quite hang together, those moments were minor and fleeting. The cast was well fleshed out with villains, both major and minor, as well as great secondary help for the hero/heroine. The details of ancient Egypt were enjoyable without being overwhelming as well. Overall, I found the story to be a fun read with an exciting end. PURCHASE HERETitle: Fifty Shades Of Alice In Wonderland by Melinda DuChamp Genre: Erotica Length: Novel Reviewer: Mark **Reviewer Purchase** Alice is an eighteen year old in love with her boyfriend, Lewis. But Lewis is awful at sex. Terrible in fact. To the point that Alice has never once experienced orgasm. In a bid to set things right, Lewis buys her a White Rabbit Vibrator which he presents to her during a picnic in the woods. But after a quick fumble and an even quicker release which sees Lewis promptly falling asleep, Alice is distraught when the vibrator takes on a life of its own and escapes down a rabbit hole. Determined to retrieve her gift, Alice follows and finds herself quickly trapped in a naughty version of Wonderland where its inhabitants proceed to tease, tantalize and torment her in a bid to teach her everything she has missed! This is a story DEFINITELY not for kids! Always amusing, often alarming and, at times, highly arousing, this is a very clever novel that successfully parody's Lewis Carroll’s famous classic whilst still managing to contain a heady dose of eroticism. Obviously released to coincide and cash-in on the success of the popular 50 Shades Of Grey books, this nonetheless manages to stand out in its own right as a really good read though it is definitely fair to say that this is NOT for the faint of heart OR the prudish! This book is also very, very funny! It has been written very tongue-in-cheek and some of the witty asides offered up by some of the characters (all too aware that they are trapped in a parody) help to break up the highly pornographic and extensively detailed sexual scenes that make up the majority of this book. Is it a turn-on? Yes. But it is also delightfully wicked in the way that it pokes fun at the genre at the same time as managing to successfully satire a very popular children's classic in a manner that would no doubt have Lewis Carroll spinning and begging to be dug up! I loved this and the news that a sequel is in the works (Fifty Shades of Through The Looking Glass) only delights me more! It really is a lot of very adult, naughty erotic fun and if you are looking for something very, very different from anything else you might have read then this is definitely for you! Fifty Shades of Alice in Wonderland is deliciously naughty with scenes of bondage, submission and degradation as Alice is taken to the very edges of sexual desire and awakening. Purchase Here+Giveaway BlurbSandra Cranston, an elementary teacher on leave, discovers a carriage deep in the woods. Inside is a man, Jerrod Ross, who fuels all of her wicked Regency dreams and fantasies. Ross has been torn from the only world he has ever known—1821 Cornwall, England. How will he adjust to the future and his growing desire for the lovely lady who found him? More importantly, how will he ever return to his time? ReviewI can't possibly tell you how much I'm in love with this book. It's so sweet, romantic, magical! Think about it as a sexy "Kate and Leopold". Kate and Leopold is one of my favorite movies, and I'll tell you why I decided to relate these two. Ross, while travelling in his carriage when he’s caught by a storm and passes out. When he wakes up, Ross is rescued by the lovely Sara, but 190 years have passed. She takes him to her home and the sexual tension is too much to handle. Kate and Leopold has the same unique atmosphere of love beyond time, prejudice, and the hero is just as hot! The love scenes were a very welcomed surprise. Ms. Gerrard has written an in depth story, with just the right amount of emotion and sexiness. Ross and Sarah are perfect together. I would like to have seen a bit more of dialog between them. This title could easily have been written as a full novel. By the end I just wanted to read more! I hope Ms. Gerrard starts a series with the other people that went missing from the carriage. Where did they go? I wonder what this author will be writing next, cause I'll sure read it! Timeless Heart is a spectacular debut and a novel I would highly recommend. Excerpt of 'Timeless Heart'Jerrod pulled on the black 'jeans', as Sandra called them. They were as form fitting as any of his breeches, very form fitting. Sandra had shown him how to operate the zipper contraption, amazing really. He grasped the metal tab and pulled, taking a slice of skin off his finger in the process. Sandra came running in when she heard the cursing. "Damn and blast! One can suffer serious injury just dressing." His irritation dissipated as he followed her gaze toward the matter of his undress. He was quite exposed, even though he was wearing those 'boxer briefs' she had given him. They too, were quite snug. He rarely wore undergarments under his breeches. He hated the loose, flowing small clothes that tied at the sides. He had to admit, the under wear, as she called them, was like a second skin. He liked the feel of it, and obviously it was needed to protect one's privates from these dangerous metal teeth of the zipper. He winced inwardly at the thought of his tackle being caught in such a device. "I can't work the dammed thing," he snarled quietly. “Would you mind?" He could have sworn her mouth dropped open. But, to her credit, she did not hesitate. She walked toward him and reached for the tab of the zipper. Her fingers lightly brushed past his cock, his reaction was immediate and very noticeable, making putting up the zipper even more of a challenge. He drew a ragged breath. She stepped closer, lowering her head. The flowery scent from her hair was tantalizing. She pulled. The zipper stuck. Jerrod heard her sigh. She pulled and tried again. It went up half way. She stepped back quickly like she had been burned. "You can manage the rest," she mumbled. “The shaving cream and razor are in the bathroom, call if you need me.” Sandra turned as if to flee, but he reached out and softly held her wrist. God's blood, he was aroused. “Stay, Sandra, please,” he managed. He reached for her hand. Was it his fervent imagination, or was her hand trembling as well? She nodded, and he took her hand. It was small, warm, and feminine, nearly disappearing in his. It felt as if it belonged in his. He let go, quickly buttoned the shirt and stuffed it under the waistband of his jeans, then continued to fight with the zipper. Finally, he got it up. He rubbed the quite visible whiskers now showing on his face. He was anxious to shave. “Come with me, Sandra?” Once they reached the bathroom he looked around. Where was the razor? Letting go of Sandra’s hand, he picked up a cylindrical object, and pressed the button on the top. A mighty exhale of air was quickly followed by a mass of white cream. He sniffed, almost a minty odor. Was this the shaving cream she spoke of? He rubbed it between his fingers. Most interesting. Still, he saw no razor. There was something with a handle next to the cream. Jerrod laid down the cream, it went all over the wall, and himself. Grumbling, he reached for a towel and began to wipe. A sexy laugh bubbled from Sandra, a sensual sound that went straight to his cock, hardening it even more. Her laugh was glorious, but she made no move to assist him. She just crossed her arms and watched him, a sexy, amused grin on her lovely face. Minx. After he removed the mess, he reached for the handled object. He stroked a finger over the top, slicing his skin. A small dot of blood rose to the surface. He sucked on it, while staring at the object. Not a straight razor as he was used to, but some sort of razor nonetheless. He pressed a button and the bloody thing began to vibrate in his hand. He shouted and dropped it like he was handling hot coals. “The bloody thing is alive!” he cried out. Sandra bent down to pick it up. She flicked the button and turned it off. “It’s a Gillette Fusion razor, it vibrates, to give you a closer shave. See? Five blades.” He raised an eyebrow. “Five blades? I am hardly a suckling pig to be carved into bits. Do you perhaps have a straight razor?” Sandra laughed again. It was such a pleasurable sound, he longed for it to continue. “Only serial killers use those. Is that what you used? It’s a wonder you didn’t lop your head off.” Jerrod’s handsome face twisted in confusion, frustration and irritation. He felt out of his element, as he had ever since he awoke in her room. She stepped in close, the razor still in her hand. Her countenance was playful, her eyes mischievous. Or was it desire? “Would you like me to shave you?”Her voice was deep, husky, he would daresay, suggestive. Jerrod playfully leaned down to whisper in her ear, “Do you make a habit of this? Offering to assist a man in his toilette?” His breath fanned her cheek like a wave of hot sex, covering her body like a cloak. The room became close, the air vibrating with sexual tension and raw, desirous heat. “You do have experience in this, I trust.” “I shave myself, how different can it be?” He cocked his brow. “Indeed? And where do you…shave?” Her face was aflame. She slammed the toilet lid down and pushed him none too gently onto the closed seat. “My legs. Women shave their legs in this time.” He gave her his sexy, lop-sided grin. “Indeed? Now I am very intrigued.” Sandra picked up the shave cream and spritzed some into her hands, mixed it between her palms, and leaned down to spread a thin film over his face. He spread his long legs wide, allowing her to step in closer to him. He wanted her as close as she could get. His cock was hard as stone. He looked up at her. She looked nervous, and excited, he could see desire in her lovely gray eyes. Picking up the Fusion, she flicked on the button, and a low hum filled the silence surrounding them. Her breasts slightly brushed by his cheek, a low growl rumbled deep in his chest. Jerrod reached over with a long finger and swiped the bit of shave cream that was on her sweater, right on the nipple. Barely there contact, but enough to have that flame between them roar to life. He smiled seductively as he wiped the cream on his own throat. He slid over on the closed toilet seat, so that his thighs were touching her leg, reached behind her back, and eased her down until she was sitting on his leg. “Shave me,” he whispered hoarsely.
