I highly recommend you watch the movie first. I loved it, by the way, and I also loved the book. However, the book is heavy with technical terms and math problems (I’m lucky I can figure out a tip ... …with a calculator and I still enjoyed the book.) Watching the movie first is a must.
Mark Watney (played brilliantly by Matt Damon) is a botanist for the Ares crew on mars. When a bad storm hits, they all evacuate but Mark is hit by debris. They all think he’s dead. With heavy hearts, they leave mars. That’s when Mark wakes up almost out of air, half buried in red sand and impaled by an antenna. Oh yeah, he’s also the only human on mars!
This is an odd novel, in terms of point of view. Watney is via the logs he writes. As soon as I learned this my hopes for this book sort of fell. How good can it be if all we get is a bunch of dry telling? Oh, I was so wrong! Happily wrong! The logs are heavy with sarcasm and although I had a hard time following all the math stuff, still entertaining. The personality of Mark really came through and before I knew it I was one hundred pages in. Then two hundred. I couldn’t put the book down. It runs a similar path to the movie. There are some differences which I found rather interesting to read. There’s more sarcasm in the book which made me snicker out loud frequently. If the technical stuff had been paired down a bit this would definitely be five shiny stars. As is, this is still a must read for me. I will be recommended the book and the movie!
The journey has been long and terrifying. In The After Light is Ruby’s last stand. There’s no backing down. There’s no plan B. There can be no failure. All the questions are finally answered about why the children in this dark world have developed powers...
I fell in love with this series from the first chapter of the first book. It’s been a fantastic roller coaster of emotions and I’m so excited to come to the ending. All our favorite characters are now gathered on the precipice. The story is wonderfully rich with details and gripping characters. It broke my heart when one of my favorites is killed! The ending is freaking insane. I could not put this book down.
In the After Light is the final, must read book, in the Darkest Mind trilogy.

Owned by the Alpha Manlove Edition is, as you probably guessed, the m/m version of the anthology from Evernight Publishing. If you read m/f then you have to check out that version! As for the man on man, alpha shifter stories ... I really loved some of them.
A Tiger’s Luck by Maia Dylan
Last Alpha Standing by James Cox
Mooncrest by Jules Dixon
His Guardian Panther by Elena Kincaid
The Scarf by L.J. Longo
A Matter of Trust by Pelaam
Conflict of Interest by L.D. Blakeley
Let’s start with the good, and when I say good, I mean amazing! Conflict of Interest by LD Blakeley and Last Alpha Standing by James Cox are, hands down, my favorites. They are edgy and wild. I totally fell in love with the characters! Eamonn in Conflict of Interest is freaking adorable and funny. Gah, love him so much! Their romance is entertaining and sexy. Marcus from Last Alpha standing is so damn hot. I want him. I want him now! He is sweet when he talks about his brother but also sarcastic and a serious badass. When he meets the beta prince, Christopher I definitely felt myself swoon. These stories really grabbed me. I know I’m going to read them again and again ... and again.
The others stories range from really good to okay. I think they’re a combination of interesting and promising. Although I got this book for an honest review, I still would have purchased it. For those two phenomenal stories alone, hell yeah, I would have bought it. I found some new authors to add to my tbr pile.
Owned by the Alpha: manlove Edition is highly recommended!

If you love shifters and the search for their mates then you have to read Owned by the Alpha. It’s the newest anthology from Evernight Publishing and it’s amazing! Seriously, I couldn’t even begin to tell you which story is my favorite because all of them are tied for first.
Scent of Destiny by Rose Wulf
Taken Mate by Sam Crescent
Finders Keepers by Stacey Espino
The Hunt by Doris O’Connor

It’s like a buffet of hot men, sex and engaging plots! I’m totally in love with this anthology. I think Finders Keepers by Stacey Espino may have inched out in the amazing department. I’ve read it twice and still enjoy every second of the story. But don’t discount the other stories! What an amazing bunch of sexy shifter tales.
Love anthologies? Read this! Love shifters? Read this! Love romance or drama or action....Basically, read Owned by the Alpha!
Another stunning, edge of your seat book by Alexandra Bracken.
Ruby is now with the League, longing for Liam, prayer Chubs is alive, hoping Zu made it to safety. She’s been training to fight with a new group of kids with their own powers and personalities. Then she meets Liam’s brother and finds out Liam is in a world of trouble. It’s a lot bigger than any of them think and not all of the will survive.
Oh. My. God. This book is crazy good! I could not stop reading. The same stellar cast as The darkest Minds adds a new bunch of powerful kids and they’re all searching for Liam. There is so much action and so many twists. I didn’t guess half of them and I am still blown away by how fabulous this book is. There’s a bit of romance between Ruby and Liam. I love how Liam finally gets his memories of her back. So sweet! That ending is insane! I absolutely teared up when a particular character died. It is so sad, especially the way the author writes the reveal.
Never Fade is the second book in a extraordinary series. You. Have. To. Read. This.

Cadence owns a yarn business and she is the nicest person in this small town. Rafe is the motorcycle riding, music playing stranger. Together they start a romance but some unexpected opportunity may just tear them apart.
This is an adorable romance. If you like the Hallmark Channel movies than this is one that’s going to be perfect for you. I love Cadence and her personality, even if she is a little weak in the backbone department. I know a few people like that. Rafe is handsome and has a great opportunity but will this blooming romance stand in the way? This romance is not the x rated kind which is exactly what I was looking for at the moment.

Title: Harper's Place
Author: Sheryl Winters
Genres: Contemporary, Romance
TBR Reviewer: Amy
Rating: 3 Stars - A Good Read!
Heat: 2/5 - Flirty!
Harper is fed up with the men in her life. Her father will not sell the family restaurant to her because he thinks she will fail. She thinks she can make it succeed like her mother did. Then Patrick O’Brien, Navy Seal dares her to do just that. Just when Harper and Patrick start to explore their feelings, Patrick leaves for service and Harper's must run the restaurant alone.
The story is promising! Harper is interesting and I enjoyed where her story is heading. Then Patrick comes home for a visit and they seemed to reconnect. They are both good for one another however I want more of their story. Especially, once they are a couple. The story is short and because of the length, a lot is left out.
Runo had a tough childhood and an even tougher life. He’s survived a lot but not without scars. Dawn is in a bad place, abusive husband, broke and just trying to keep her kids safe. When she steals from Runo the sparks fly but so does the heartbreak. Can Runo help her or will Dawn become another victim?
I love this book. Love it! Dawn is so broken, I just want to hug her and hold her tight. Equally, Runo has his own issues and it is sweet seeing them trying to heal each other. There is some serious hot sex scenes in here that certainly give the title some merit. I was on the edge of my seat the whole book.
Be warned, Fiery isn’t your average romance story. It’s dark, dirty and a must read!
We’re back in the dangerous shadows of the mafia in His Killing Princess. Antonio and Emily are star crossed lovers who have gone from enemies to lovers but can they survive when a traitor is discovered?
First of all, I love the cover. Gorgeous! Second, this book is even better than the first in the series. Antonio and Emily have great chemistry. The sexual tension in the air is enough to make my hair stand on end. Love it! The story itself is really great too. There’s suspense mixed with sex and a lot of lies. There is so much happening in this book and it balances perfectly with our main characters. If you love romantic suspense, this book is perfect for you.
His Killing Princess is a wild ride with engaging characters that you have to read!
