Internment is a city in the sky, beneath it is…well, no one knows. Violent winds surround the hunk of rock and stone so no one can leave. Morgan is just a girl, dealing with your average teenage stuff but she’s also curious. Why did the sky god send them up here? What was below them? Why couldn’t they leave? Why did the King lie about the first murder in generations? Morgan is about to be thrust into a rebellion that will lead to a shocking adventure.
How unique does this book sound? The second I read the blurb, I ordered the book. I’d never read anything like this. The world building is so freaking amazing and fascinating. This author does a superb job creating Internment and making me see this city in the sky. Each character has their own flaws and personality. Morgan is very much a daydreamer and her curiosity, although dangerous, is also refreshing. Basil is her betrothed and he’s an absolute sweetheart. There’s also Pen, her best friend who hates her betrothed Thomas. Her brother Lex who tried to jump off internment and went blind. All this plays out and comes to a stunning conclusion. Halfway through I ordered the second and third book. Now that I’m finished, they can’t get here soon enough!
If you’re looking for a young adult story that will stand out from the rest, Perfect Ruin is a must read!
