Four Hundred Years Hard...
How long can you make love last? How long can you wait for it to return, and what would you do to get it back? Will Farmer and Thomas Langley have one last chance to bring their lost lover back to them, but will she be the same as they remember? When Ruby Matthews is faced with a terrifying but seductively irresistible proposition, will she choose to leave the world of the living in exchange for an un-dead life of endless love? Will and Thomas are vampires, and lovers. Four hundred years ago they were a threesome along with the lovely Anne Baker, until Anne was brutally murdered before they could turn her, and was lost to them for centuries. When a Witch's spell offers the hope of recovering Anne, Will and Thomas gladly accept the risks. But modern-day Ruby Matthews has no idea that her tortuous October nightmares are the precursor to a long-awaited soul reunion with not only her vampire lovers, but a woman long dead.
This short story is a fast-paced read that delivers exactly what the title suggests, a loving reunion that gets right down to business and packs a red-hot sensual punch. With guy-on-guy as well as some threesome action, the sexy scenes are both macabre and exciting; as you'd expect whenever fangs are involved. Even so, Will and Thomas's gentle nature make the seduction of Ruby sweet, satisfying and utterly complete. The only disappointment is that the old theme of the multi-century wait for that "perfect mate" is getting a little tiresome for this reader. But if you like predictable vampire love stories, this is a good, quick read to "liven" up a "dead" boring commute to work, and leave you ready to tackle the day with fresh blood!
Cassie has a bad history with men but she’s content to focus on her job. But her next-door neighbor and co-worker, deputy Slade is driving her nuts. Must he have sex with women outside and it’s always a different girl! When the come to a tentative truce they both find out there’s more to each other than what’s on the surface.
Cassie rocks! She’s had a tough past and is now very guarded but I love the way she deals with Slade. She doesn’t fall over him, she stands up to him. She’s not weak and worthless. She isn’t falling for his sexual pickup lines or his handsome face…at first. There’s a slow chipping away at her resolve that I really love reading. Jared doesn’t date just uses women for sex but that pattern is changing now that he’s gotten to know his neighbor and co-worker Cassie. Their romance is tantalizing and intoxicating. I couldn’t stop reading! There isn’t much action but that didn’t matter because their story really pulled me in. I wanted to see how they finally admitted to each other about their feelings. The ending is really rushed though and I wish the author would have taken her time telling us about Cassie and Slades happy ending.
If you’re looking for a hot, quick read this book will be perfect fit.
A Bear’s Baby is a standalone book in the Kalispell Shifters saga. This is Brady and Jenna’s story. Brady Walsh is a hardworking, good-looking, extremely well off bear shifter of marriageable age. Due to a possible soil contamination, he has been ordered to stop construction pending investigation. Jenna Paxton is his new attorney, retained to assist him with keeping the delay to a minimum. Having never met before when they do, they are drawn to one another, like moths to a flame and the hot shifter/human sex is on. This continues even though they both have misgivings – Brady that she’s not a shifter and he doesn’t want a relationship and Jenna that he’s a client and you just don’t sleep with your clients, no matter how gorgeous they are. This goes on and on, back and forth, all the while he is introducing her to more of the Shifter community. Of course she has a secret that she hasn’t told him and he hasn’t quite gotten around to telling her that he’s a shifter… even when he discovers he’s falling for her. Will they work it out in the end?
t is a Romance after all but it sure is a mountainous trek along the way. This is the second book I have read from this series and I am really enjoying it. I want to know what is going on in the background. This is a refreshing twist, a new point of view from the typical male shifter and I liked it. And the storyline is certainly exciting! So much going on that you could not possibly be bored but yet I knew exactly what is going on too. And the sex. Hot and Steamy!!! Whoo! Cold showers (or naked runs through the snowy forest) will be needed, so be prepared! Editing was rough, so I took off a point for that but otherwise thoroughly enjoyable and recommended to Shifter lovers!
This is Dick’s book. Dick is a real biker – he takes what he wants when he wants it and really couldn’t care less about what anyone else thinks. He was going through his days via his addiction, existing, not living. Then he entered Rehab and things changed. He met Martha. Martha is a quiet woman, doing her best to get her sister through Rehab, one day at a time. Martha meets Dick while she’s visiting the Rehab center. She’s not there to see him but she ends up visiting him whenever she goes there. After getting out of Rehab, Dick decides he needs a break from the club and goes to see Martha. He awakens a part of her that is long dead and she calms his need to use. Of course, as they get more and more involved, there is always trouble lurking around the corner or behind the next cloud for Chaos Bleeds. Do you think Martha is up to it? Will she think Dick is worth it? To find out more about Dick and Martha, you need to read the book.
I will tell you that the book had me laughing and feeling sad at times. There were other characters that showed up as well, making their appearances and leaving tidbits for perhaps the next book? Most of all, I wanted more and to me that is always the sign of a good story.
Broken Hearts is a standalone book however; it is the 7th book in a popular series whose fans just luuurve it. I get the distinct feeling that I would certainly have benefited had I read the rest of the series first. That being said, Sam is a pretty darn good writer to be able to have me come in at Book 7 and still know what was what, enjoy the book and be sad when it was over. I really have to give her kudos for that. And these are not easy or simple characters she writes either. Dick was about as complex a character as it gets – first he was just getting by, existing not living. Then he had to go through the pain that comes from withdrawal. Then the changes that come when you are trying to get to know someone and you want to open up to someone who matters to you and finally as a changed man who has to fit back into his old society. See? Complex and she did a great job! Martha was no easy peasy either. Above all, Sam still kept the aura of danger hovering over their collective heads with this ‘Master’. Great way to ramp up the fear factor! Decidedly 5 Stars!
With this being the 9th book in the series, I wondered if I would be missing out on part of the story having never read any of the Kalispell Shifters novels before. My concern was short lived. This story introduces Chloe, a young pregnant woman whose plane crash lands near Flathead Lake in Northern Montana. Frightened, hurt and on the run, she goes into premature labor while pinned under some of the wreckage. Thankfully she is rescued by a bear shifter Dr. Ash McWilliams and his friends and delivers her baby daughter, Sophie, without problem. The shifters have a hospital nearby and are pros at keeping secrets so they offer to take Chloe and Sophie there to allow them to recuperate in peace. While there, Chloe and Ash find a growing mutual attraction. By the time the girls are ready to leave the hospital, it's been decided they will stay nearby. Eventually Chloe's past comes back to bite her though and she is taken from both Sophie and her safe haven. What can Ash do to save them all?
I really enjoyed reading Protected by the Bear. It was not overly heavy or deep and it was full of warm fuzzies...even the Grizzly kind. I liked Chloe as a person and that she stood up for what she believed in. When Ash's bear was drawn to her I figured he had one smart bear. Truthfully, they are good together and he is adorable with Sophie. And their intimacy was hmmm...yummy! Another character I really liked was Hannah. She was so helpful and good to Chloe...kind of like a big sister. I plan to look into the books in the series to see if one tells more of Hannah's story. In the end, it all felt a little rushed. The Epilogue made it very clear that Brady is a trouble maker who will be back and we have not heard the last from him to say the least. I'd say this is a super choice for shifter lovers, especially bear shifters.
Paige's father disappears with a cryptic message and a secret bank account. Her mom remarry's into the mafia and her new stepbrother has plans of his own. One of which includes finding out what Paige is hiding.
Paige is a chunky, shy, poor girl who is totally loveable. I just wanted to scoop her up and hug tight. She is thrust into this dangerous situation and fights as best as she can. Donnie is harder to like. He does some horrible things that made me weary of liking him. He is redeemed as the story progresses. So, why not 5 stars? The first reason is the time lapses. A year passes, a month passes, ect. It's jarring and we don't get to see how Donnie and Paige bond. The second reason is the editing. I usually let that pass but this is pretty bad. Repeated phrases that are only a paragraph or two apart and odd sentences that really push me out of the story. The third and most important reason for three stars is the sex. Yup, the sex scenes are hot but 3 in a row is too much. I was bored with them and then the author added two more spread out after that.
Overall, I think Stepbrother's Debt is a good read. If you can find it on sale I'd say to give it a try!
The Warlord Claims His Bride
By Jenika Snow
Genre: Fantasy, Erotic
TBR Reviewer: Bella Star
Rating: 5 Stars - A Must Read!
Heat: 5/5 - Orgasmic!
How can you resist that cover?! Bronson is a badass warlord and he wants Genevieve. But she does not give in just because a man has a whim. He must show her what’s its like to be a Warlord’s bride but also protect her from his enemies.
Two word review: Freaking fabulous!
Everything in this book screamed talent, screamed romance and I wanted to jump into this world the author created. I love the little details that really painted beautiful, intense images. Genevieve was tough but soft when I came to Bronson and the warlord pulled at my heart strings from the very beginning. This is a wonderful romantic read and seriously hot!
The Warlord Claims his Bride is a 5 star read that should not be missed!
I absolutely loved how this book started. Everyone can relate to some idiot riding their fender in dangerous weather. Turns out the idiot that was on Sophia’s bumper is a sexy cowboy that will change her life.
I loved the authors description of Flynn, I could see him perfectly and I’m pretty sure I started drooling. Sexy, right? Damn, Flynn was gorgeous, if a jerk of a driver. Then both their flights are cancelled and the hotel has a mix up. It seemed like fate was throwing them together weither they wanted to or not. So cute! I really enjoyed this short story. The characters were wonderful and the plot romantic. The only issues was that the scenes were jumpy because of all the Point of View changes. Normally, I’d bitch about spending time alone with a stranger but for some reason this pair worked out well. I felt their connection. The romance was so very well written.
If you want sweet and sexy without much angst, Christmas with a Cowboy is for you!
Whitney was an English teacher, after a hostage situation she runs back to her hometown trying to figure out what to do with her life. Colt, is the father of her former brief boyfriend. One she always had her eye on but was too shy to bother with, until now.
Colt could be described as arrogant, too confident, but for some reason it really freaking worked for him. I felt myself blushing as much as Whitney. He was such a dominating older man, and so well written. Whitney was so shy and emotionally damaged from her past. I wanted to see her happy ending! The editing was rough in places and some of the dialogue was a bit awkward, especially during the sex scene. Fortunately, the story was great besides those points. The characters were perfect and the plot really
romantic. Colt will be one of my favorite older men from a book, and that list is pretty short. Yes, I liked him that much. *sighs dramatically*
Vanessa Devereux is an author to look out for!
