A leopard can't change its spots, but can a wolf change his ways?
Connie Duncan isn't convinced. When she accidentally learns her employer-turned-lover Tor Vladimir is a wolf-shifter she wants nothing more than to run away from him, and his relentless pursuit of her across a continent only proves he will never stop, never surrender, nor ever be the man she thought he was. Once caught, will she ever escape him again?
This story hooks you from the start, as Connie hides from Tor in the backstreets of Milan, Italy only to come face to face with him just as she's preparing to make a break for it. What follows is an exploration of their unconventional relationship, their true feelings for each other, and the ins and outs of how an unwilling wolf shifter came to be and how he manages the hand fate has dealt him.
It takes some convincing, and some TLC, but when these two finally get close their encounters are smoking hot and satisfying, especially against the backdrop of Tor's magnificent mountain retreat. Who wouldn't feel the call of the wild in a beautiful, isolated setting, virtually marooned with a sexy hunk of a man who is part wolf? But for a pair that is inevitably fated to be together, Connie and Tor appear very conflicted toward each other. Connie's endless internal rationalizations about her situation get a bit tiresome, and both characters' flip-flopping between love and hate is as frustrating as watching the petals being plucked off a daisy.
However, what's love without its challenges? While they can't change what they are, in the end both must change a little to make it work, and find that happy ever after. That's true whether you're wolf or human! A love story to really sink your teeth into!
Have you ever been in the position of collection donations for a very important cause and receiving an uncomfortably large donation from a person whose motive you are unsure about? Petra’s best friend Lizzie is the mom to a little boy who needs a trip to New York City for some medical care that can enable him to walk. Petra is overseeing a Silent Auction, raising funds on the family’s behalf when a donation is received from Nick for a gift worth approximately 100,000 pounds Sterling, their largest donation to date. Unfortunately, since Nick worked and lived outside the law when he was younger just like Petra’s Dad, she has no use for him and no belief that someone like him could ever reform. If he is the winning (largest) donation, he will win the use of Petra’s housecleaning services for a day, something that has her wound up tighter than a tick. She has no desire to spend 10 minutes with him, let alone an entire day. Unfortunately, Nick is indeed the winner and off to his home she must go. Petra arrives with a huge chip on her shoulder, sure that she will make his day as miserable as hers. Nicks plans are actually to prove her wrong, that he has reformed and that he would love nothing better than to spend the day getting to know her up close and personally.
Well, you can read this fun little ROMANCE ON THE GO from Evernight Publishing in about 30 minutes and find out!
Did I enjoy what I read? You bet I did! I love the ROMANCE ON THE GO series because they are perfect for a lunch hour, waiting in the bus line or while you’re at an appointment. This one was a really smooth and easy read. With basically only three characters involved, that helped keep it simple too. I felt like we get to know both Petra and Nick pretty well, and some things about them are a little surprising. The author fed the information to us like bread crumbs instead of dumping it on us all at once which I like too. She explained why Petra had such bad feelings toward Nick and how he could understand those feelings. Her feelings had even helped to motivate part of his change which I found impressive. As the action scenes were taking place, each one was unique and had feelings as well as just ‘right hand here, left foot there’ which made the story believable.
Things like that are what made this book one of my favorite ROMANCE ON THE GOs to date! I know I cannot wait to read At His Bidding again!
