In a small town, there’s a young man called Blue. He’s the son of a single month who’s died of cancer. He’s withdrawn and awkward. Blue hides who he is until he meets Jack. Jack is the new sexy firefighter. They form a friendship that slowly slips into dangerous, sexual territory. But how will the small town handle their love? How will Blue’s tough Grandmother? With all those questions, trouble is on the horizon. The shady mayor wants to close the firehouse down...
This is a fantastic contemporary story! Jack was gorgeous and sweet, a true gentleman. Blue is so freaking adorable. Be prepared, there are some Kleenex moments. As much as I loved the story it is slow moving in parts, long winded I guess you’d say. It is still worth reading through. The characters alone are amazing. Add in the fabulous support cast and you have yourself a hit! What detracts from the rating is actually the sex scenes. They are awkward. The writing is almost like a manual. Jack and Blue go through the motions of sex but there is no feeling behind it. But the story is still a great treat to read.
It’s a somewhat simple plot worked over by a talented author to create an intriguing read. Heaven’s Just a Sin Away is about a small town with a big heart. I highly recommend it!
With all the shifter books out there, I tend to shy away from them. There are just so many, so similar that I usually don’t bother. However, Killian’s Claim is a MUST READ!
The writing is flawless. It’s easy to follow, perfectly paced and wonderfully plotted. Quinn is a shifter but his parents were killed and he is now on his own. He’s a loner, scared to stay in one place for too long. That is until he meets Killian. Killian is also a shifter with his own set of issues. Together they face down their problems while trying to find their happy ending.
I really loved Quinn. His past was littered with unfortunate events that he couldn’t quite overcome. I wanted so bad to hug him and then shove him at Killian...naked. What a pair. The sex was fabulous and sexy. I really enjoyed this story and the wonderful characters.
Killian’s Claim is a shifter book that should not be missed!
This ten author anthology centers around Alpha shifters of all types claiming their mates. Some are fated matings where the first sniff, f**k, taste, etc. lets them know that they've found the right one for them. Some are more subtle, while some are rough, wild, or even bordering on dubious-consent, but the one thing all these stories have in common is sex! These stories are guaranteed to rev up your imagination.
I particularly enjoyed two stories: "His Great Dane" by Karly Germain was unusual in scope and characters. I enjoyed the fact that the "Alpha" in this pairing was only part shifter and had his own issues to deal with rather than being "perfect" and that the shifter breeds were different than the norm. "Bad Moon Rising" by Pelaam had the romance aspect down and even though it left unanswered questions that could easily set it up for a sequel, I still found it satisfying.
All the stories, however, were enjoyable to read and could easily fill a few minutes here and there when you do not have time for a full novel. I definitely think fans of alpha males and their mates should read this anthology.
