Marissa Pearson is an accountant in Boston married to a police officer. Her marriage has already begun to dematerialize due to her husband’s infidelity when she’s offered a part in a movie. The breaking point in her marriage comes when she moves to LA for 6 weeks to follow her dream in what her husband had previously assumed was a hobby. She meets Andrew Reed a charismatic British actor on-set and begins a friendship of sorts with him when her marriage completely explodes. Now, Andrew helps Marissa through a divorce, her friend’s terrible marriage, and the rumors that come with being involved with him as they explore their feelings for one another while off-set.
This story was very much a roller-coaster of epic proportions. I enjoyed the pacing of the book, as well as the arc’s in the plot where every time things seemed to settle down for either Andrew or Marissa the other shoe would fall and once again they’d be facing conflicts. There were a few very heated sex scenes that garnered the higher rating, as well as the language throughout as Andrew let out some interesting British curses. I’m a big fan of feisty heroines, especially those who are not as helpless as they think they are. The HEA was agonizing but came through! I give this inaugural novel 4 stars for the ambitious plot points, the action scenes, and the complex character development. Great work!
