One hundred years in the future, Grace is caught off guard by an enemy seeking revenge for that night the village burned, putting her entire family in danger. Grace was a damaged, bull headed, occasionally irksome gal, er… Siren. Willing to fight to the end for her family, I admire her loyalty and sass. The hero Jacob, whom she meets on the run is a charming, handsome, sorcerer. In the end I was ambivalent about him. I didn’t dislike him, but I didn’t love him.
There were so many things going on, I didn’t think this story really read as a romance, but more of a paranormal adventure with some romantic elements. I adored the magical elements! The powers, descriptions, and plot were exciting and unique details. I devoured her lore and interesting concepts for well known creatures like a woman lost in the desert.
There was little to no time to fully develop the romance or make me fall for the characters, but I didn’t mind that. I liked it as an adventure with romantic elements. If you go in expecting that I think this is easily a four star that will satisfy and intrigue you.
