As a little girl, Jada imagined another world on the other side of her closet door. As an adult she transformed those imaginings into fantasy worlds through her books. When she loses everything of this world in a tragic accident, can she dip into the dream well just one more time to live with her imaginary lover in a world that will last forever ?
Thoughtful and imaginative, I had to re-read this book a second time to appreciate the subtle but important details that made the story fit together like a beloved jigsaw puzzle. So satisfying when all the pieces are in place and you admire the finished picture all over again! Jada's willingness to sacrifice everything to reunite with her dream-world companion Rhydian is heart wrenching; illustrating just how far one will go when there's nothing left to lose. Rhydian's regression into a brutal creature of the night during Jada's years of absence is also sad; but makes his redemption all the sweeter.
When Jada finally solves her own puzzle, the result is both beautiful and gratifying. Despite a few somewhat clumsy phrases and odd word choices, Worlds Apart is a recommended read, especially for those who dream of escaping to a fondly remembered childhood fantasy. And who doesn't?
