Anna is an empath, she returns home for her father’s funeral only to learn that she’s now co-owner of a gym. Her father’s business partner is a gorgeous man and makes her legs weak but she’s strong enough not to give into those ridiculous urges. Derrick isn’t exactly human. Okay, he’s not human at all, he’s a vampire. Gah, I love vampire stories! He’s lived hundreds of years and is stunned to find the woman he’s been looking for is the fiery beauty Anna.
This is a great romance. I love Anna. She is tough and hard headed, she reminds me way too much of me. Only I don’t have a handsome Derrick waiting for me. *grumbles* Anyway, Derrick is gorgeous and I like how he has to protect her from a threat that could destroy them both. Their romance is flirty but I wish there had been more. It needed that sexual boost to really get the romance going between Derrick and Anna. The editing in this book also threw me out of the story a few times. There’s some great action that definitely kept the story moving.
This is the first time I’ve read this author and I’m looking forward to see what else she comes up with!
I don’t know if you all know this about me but I love, love, love dystopian/end of the world stories. They usually perk my interest and if there’s a romance involved, well, let’s just say I had grabby hands after reading this blurb.
The plague, or the Severny Virus, is freaking scary and not farfetched, at all! Ice cores hold all sorts of germs and dormant stuff. Who’s to say it won’t happen? The fact that this plague is believable makes the story that much better. Lee is a farmer whose family is almost wiped out by the virus. He’s trying to hold on to his farm and survive long enough to find out if his sister is alive. I liked Lee at first but talking about killing dogs just because they’re hungry makes me extremely angry. So much so that I nearly stopped reading the book. It’s just not necessary to put that stuff in a romance book. Anyway, his sister returns home with a handsome army guy named Nate. Lee’s sister is surprisingly unemotional. She finds out her parents die and then introduces Nate. Then Lee’s talking about the guest room being messy. A lot of their reactions seemed odd like that. Lee and Nate have a great push and pull to their romance as the story moves on and I enjoyed that. They are sweet and then sexy.
There is a lot of potential here. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
Vasic is an arrow, a deadly assassin that has a blood stained history. Now that Silence has fallen they need to combat the darkness that’s causing Psy to go into murderous rages. The theory is that empath who have been nearly wiped out will save their race. Vasic is now in charge of protected the E-psy Ivy but neither of them are prepared for the bond the form or the healing that may just save their future…
Vasic is sexy and gorgeous and wounded. Ivy is equally as injured by the psy councils trying to destroy her empath abilities. I love the romance between these two. They both needed someone so badly and I enjoy their journey. Oh, the whole thing about accidentally teleporting places when their being romantic is freaking brilliant! Their story is balanced with the horror of the psy going crazy and the previous characters banding together to find a way to save their race. This is probably my second favorite book in the series. It is so beautiful and sweet but action packed.
If you haven’t read the Psy-Changleling series yet, what are you waiting for?! Shields of Winter is another amazing story in a phenomenal series!
Dark and Dirty is a 4 story anthology that’s all about the dark romance. Does it deliver? Yes! Sexy? You’re going to need a cold shower or your significant other available. How about a plot? Nothing is worse than hot sex without a story to go with it. Guess what, this anthology has it all!
NOT ONE NIGHT by D.C. Stone
REDEEMER by Kastil Eavenshade
SLICK by Lea Bronsen
ADDICTIONS by R. Brennan
Each story has its own unique contemporary plot and sexy characters. I enjoyed them all. If you’re looking for sweet romance then run right along. If you like things on the edgy side then definitely give this book a try.
Dark and Dirty is exactly as the name implies, a highly recommend read!
Darcelle Lebeau knows she's different. Relegated to the shadows of her sister's celebrity existence, she forsakes her family-dictated role as unpaid PA and general handmaiden in favor of her own shadowy world of stealth and robbery. For a year she's yearned to meet her mysterious underworld mentor whom she calls 'Matou'-- meaning 'Tomcat'. But Matou has more than B&E training in mind for his kitten--his 'minou'. Can love and larceny co-exist? Or will curiosity and the biggest heist of Darcelle's career kill the cat burglar inside her?
I liked Darcelle Lebeau for her rebel instincts and enjoyed the story for its originality in setting the characters and the romance within a world of occupational crime. It's refreshing to see a heroine who knows from the get-go she will never follow a conventional or directed path, and embracing her true nature rather than denying it. Her 'Matou' Sebastian St. Croix is predictably mysterious, outrageously handsome and obscenely rich. It would have been nice to see a few more flaws and internal angst from this hero; seems like there's more backstory to him than is actually revealed which renders him a bit bland and uninteresting. As well, Darcelle's estrangement and subjugation by her mother and sister is never explained and seems unfounded. While there were a few flashes of brilliance, the general writing style seemed uninspired and occasionally silly. "The night was dark, which was a break for them." Hello? Cat Burglars? The sex scenes between Darcelle and Sebastian are borderline hot,
but seem to fizzle before actually giving the reader their payday. Some wasted potential here.
All that aside, the premise and story is original and entertaining. Everyone has a little larceny inside, and this story will definitely let your inner cat burglar out of the bag!
Title: The Concert Pianist
Author: Judy and Keith
Length: Novella, 68 pgs
Genres: YA, Contemporary, Mystery
TBR Reviewer: Jean
Rating: 3 Stars – A Good Read
They say true genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. But for 13-year-old Elizabeth Crenshaw, it's 100% fate. The spirit of aspiring pianist Lola Schumann lays trapped in a second-hand piano, and only Elizabeth can tell her story through the music that flows magically from the keys into her fingers.
The authors display some admirable musical knowledge in this story, which gave it a satisfying authenticity for this reader. However, the murder mystery within the story is the main event here, focusing on police detective Gareth Lomas and his cold case file on Lola Schumann. So much so, that the main character seems to be Gareth rather than Elizabeth, whom we are introduced to at the beginning of the story. The short length of this work doesn't allow for much detail into the Elizabeth's journey nor the backstory of Lola and detective Lomas' subsequent investigation. A full-blown Lee-Child-esque novel could almost be pulled from these pages, and I hope the author takes up that challenge someday.
That said, the quickness with which this story takes place gives the feeling of being written in a hurry too, leaving some mistakes and trite, too-expedient details in its wake. If they can get past those, mystery readers and music lovers will enjoy this imaginative story!
This is not only my favorite book of the series but it’s one of my favorite books of all time!
Kaleb is the most powerful Psy on the planet. He can literally cause earthquakes, teleport anywhere in the world and destroy the planet if he so choose. Growing up with a madman for a guardian has made him hard and cold. That is, until he find the woman he’s been searching six years for. Sahara was taken and tortured as a child, she’s only held on because she created a labyrinth in her mind to protect herself. When Kaleb rescues here she has no idea who he is or that they have violent past. As the Pure Psy set about more plots to destroy those they deem unworthy, Sahara begins to remember and Kaleb starts to thaw…...
Complete and utter girly squeal on this book. Seriously, I am in love with this story. I love Kaleb and his horrible childhood. I love how Sahara’s has to deal with her own crappy childhood. I love how they come together and heal each other. I love, love, love this book. Over the course of the book, Kaleb begins to open up and show his true heart. Sahara brings out the best in him. There also a great amount of action that pushes the story forward.
Heart of Obsidian is an amazing story about hurt, healing and ass kicking. A must read!
Yes, it’s almost June and yes, I’m reading a Christmas book. *shrugs* Don’t judge me. This book is really good!
Jonas is an incubus who has one soul to collect to fulfill his contract. The problem is He’s falling for Holly, the soul he’s supposed to take. This is a short story that does a great job with interesting characters and a touch of kinky sex. I really liked Jonas and his predicament. His Christmas fetish is unique and quirky! The romance is too quick though and the story is rushed. Although short, this is still a fun story and I look forward to the next one!
Holiday romance lovers will definitely enjoy Holidays in Hell!
Let me start off by saying, I love greek mythology. Love it! Hercules, Xena, ect, loved them. When I read the blurb for this book, I was intrigued. Then I found out it has to do with the God Ares being the leader of twelve sexy men trying to keep Hades in the underworld. Say what?! *grabby hands*
First Contact has to deal with two of these soldiers, Wolf and Gunner, meeting the love of their lives and having to rescue her. Romantic suspense anyone? Give me some of that! Oh, oh, did I mention the piercings? *thud*
Wolf and Gunner, if I have to choose…I’d be forever stumped. They’re both gorgeous, badasses and I want one of each please. So. Freaking. Hot! Camilla is the kindergarten teacher that’s attacked by…wait for it…werewolves. Odd but okay, I’ll work with that. If there are Gods why can’t their be werewolves? Once the trio meet it’s a fabulous balance of romance and action. I love how the plot comes together and the sex is so damn yummy. I cannot wait to read the next book!
