Monster or hero?
My name is Larkspur and I was born in the Colony, a labyrinth of tunnels and caves miles beneath the surface designed for prisoners. Being born among the criminals isn't an easy childhood. But I have a secret, my nails turn into sharp claws. I learned early how to fight dirty, hide well and never trust. All too soon, our world changes. Something happens to the prospering world above. The criminals desiring freedom and revenge push toward the surface. Me among them. Humanity needs a hero, now more than ever, but all they get is me, a monster from the darkness. |
Rachel is trying to deal with these feelings for Trent who happens to be an important Elf and engaged. Meanwhile magic is suddenly going crazy putting the entire city in danger.
So. Freaking. Good! This book has a fantastic plot with tons of action and some romance. I really like how Trent’s characters evolves. I didn’t like him in the beginning of the series but now, two away from the end I really like him. That’s some top notch character development. Ivy, the vampire, Jenks, the pixie and David, the were, also make this book wonderfully varied. There a romance scene in here too and it’s pretty steamy. The ending is explosive! There’s only one book left in The Hollows series. I’m both excited and sad about that. I think a bad case of book withdrawal is going to hit me soon. The Undead Pool is another epic read in the paranormal world of Rachel Morgan!

We’re back in the world of Rachel Morgan (The witch with extremely bad luck) in book 8 of The Hollows Series. Rachel is dealing with being a demon’s student, her lying ex and oh yeah, the coven is after her for her ovaries. There are explosions, summoning’s and a great character isn’t going to make it into the next book.
This is what I’m talking about! Love it! The last two books have been a bit slow moving but this book upped the action and the plot by a thousand. There is very little urge to stop and join the real world when reading this. I just want to sink into the pages and stay there. Morgan has a lot going on. Al, the demon, who is acting really flirty with her. (I’m hoping something develops there). Then there’s Pierce the ex-ghost who’s lusting after her, but I don’t trust him. At. All. The romance is brief and well written but I just don’t like Pierce so…There’s also Ivy the sometimes out of control vampire and Jenks with his HUGE family of pixies. All my favorites and then some. I do wish David played a bigger part. He’s the shifter and I really like him. Trent’s in here too. I can’t forgive him for the past but he’s growing on me. Anyway, this book is amazing. It’s just as epic as the first few that really grabbed me and pulled me in. That ending is so damn sad. I can’t believe the author killed off another fantastic, sweet, loving characters. There are twists upon twists and I can’t get enough. I can’t wait to read the next book! I read this book in two days, yes, two days. I read every chance I got which is how I ended up with burnt biscuits for dinner. I have no regrets. This book is awesome! Rachel is after The Witch Hunter and things are about to get dangerous…
There are nice nibbles of information about the mystery for Rachel and what Trent is. They’re weaved so perfectly that it kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked Trent. I know, I know, he’s a bad guy, maybe. I still like him. Poor Ivy goes through hell in this book. There is great action and romance. My only issue is there are several information dumps in the books. Mostly in the beginning. They pop up all of a sudden and it takes you out of the story completely. But, Rachel and her odd group of friends really pulls at your heart, and I’m finding myself really attached to them. I can’t wait to read the next book! Must. Read. Now! The hollows series gets better and better with each book! The Spirit Dragon Author: Tianna Xander Page count: 95 Genres: Paranormal Romance TBR Reviewer: Victoria Rating: 3 Stars - A Good Read. Heat: 1 - Tame Having reviewed the prior book in the series, The Water Dragon, and thoroughly enjoyed it, I jumped at the chance to review the next book in the series, The Spirit Dragon. I’m happy to announce that much of the book lived up to my expectations, including a very healthy dose of humor. Jasmine’s witchy gift is bringing things back from the dead. Until recently, it’s been limited to plants, but about a month ago, formerly living creatures have started getting up and walking after her. This includes a rather humorous recitation of one of the zombies shambling after her saying “Braaaains.” Understandably, she’s a bit tired of that and retreats to a sanctuary provided by Drake, her brother-in-law, where she just has a couple of guards and limited interaction with things that might have once been alive. Honestly, I never stopped giggling throughout the book. Ms. Xander’s humor was fantastic and I just didn’t get tired of the zombie jokes. Given everything Jasmine had been going through in recent days, you couldn’t blame her for clinging so long to the belief that Ryuu was yet another reanimated body. And, with that in mind, who can blame her for not wanting to be attracted to him or objecting more than she might otherwise at being abducted. These two made a great pair, their innate gifts (her ability to reanimate the dead and his to pull a spirit back from the afterlife) matching perfectly. I don’t remember the Water Dragon having the same perfect compatibility, but they made a lovely combination. Anyway, all that said, this got knocked down from a 4-star to a 3 because of some of the issues in the latter pages of the book. Primarily, the utter confusion (in my mind, to the point I actually went back and reread a few pages when I stumbled over the issue as I read) over why exactly Jasmine didn’t want to be with Ryuu (after she finally believed he wasn’t a zombie). The only other minor problem I had with this was definitely one I hadn’t had with The Water Dragon: the secondary cast. Had I not read the other book, I would have had no clue what they were talking about when they threw in a conversation about finding/rescuing Emily (friend of the heroine who got snatched by a dragon at the end of the book). While it’s always a delicate balance to avoid info-dumping and boring those who are a long-time fan of your series while providing enough information to newcomers, I think this book definitely fell shy of that balance. Other than these two issues, I loved this book and am eagerly awaiting a chance to get my hands on the next Dragon book. Purchase HereWarlock’s Pawn by Tara Quan Genre: Fantasy, Erotica, Adventure TBR Reviewer: Brutally Honest Rating: 4 stars – A Recommended Read. Heat: 4 Handcuffs – An Erotic Ride. This is the second book I’ve read from this author and they’re bother really impressive. Warlock’s Pawn is unique, has a solid plot and I see great things in the future if she keeps writing fabulous stories like this. Alia was a beautiful characters in looks and personality and Duncan is a sexy bad boy with a good heart. They tale is a romantic, heated coupling that I loved. Mira and Garr’s story really took away from the main characters. I would have liked to have had less of them in the book and expand more on Alia and Duncan. The story is fantastic though with some magic, wings and really nice world building. This was a quick read and very entertaining. I really enjoyed the romance and the adventure. Warlock’s Pawn is a story of love among war and some magic to keep the plot unique. Purchase HereWaiting For Darkness by Fionn Jameson Genre: Vampire, Shifter, Witch, Paranormal, Erotica Length: Novella TBR Reviewer: Brutally Honest Rating: 3 stars – A Good Read. Heat: 4 Handcuffs – An Erotic Ride. Tanith is a dominate female vampire and she just meet her match, a shifter king who’s totally attracted to her, a sexy Irish witch that wants her and a dangerous new hunter roaming her city. So many good and bad issues with this book. I’m going to try to blend them together so you can get a sense of both because although it had some problems it was still a really well-written book. There’s a unique quote before each chapter. As interesting as they are it really threw me out of the story. I wanted to continue reading but was stopped by quotes and after the third or fourth one, I just skipped them. Too interruptive. Some events/movements were off. Such as Jamison, the witch, being on the couch but then suddenly he’s grabbing her arm. Did he float there? Stretch his arm muscles so he could reach that many feet across? That happened with a few scenes. Disjointed just fits the book perfectly. I really liked Tanith at the beginning. Bad ass vampire, doesn’t take shit, what’s not to like? However, her personality kept doing a flip. At the beginning she was a badass but a chapter or two later she tells us both shifters and witches are stronger. Then she gets overpowered by the shifter king and later by Jamison, so what happened to being a badass? Tanith also is dominated by Jamison so quickly, like she’s the submissive. A total personality change. This sex was smoking hot but the characters were disjointed. Almost as if the author wrote a chapter, waited a few weeks then wrote the next chapter just from memory of the first chapter. Despite the issues with this story, the author is very talented. There was NO head hopping, the pace was perfect and the romance wonderful. This book is a solid three stars, I’d even bump it up to a three and a half if I could. She is a good writer. This book is just, well, disjointed. (I know I used that word about three times but it just fits. ) I’ve read a book from her pervious and enjoyed it so keep a look out for more from this author. Purchase HereWolf Night by Tracey Sinclair Genre: Vampires, Shifters, Witches, Romance, Paranormal Length: Novel TBR Reviewer: Brutally Honest Rating: 4 stars - A recommended read. Heat: 3 handcuffs - Blush Worthy. Oh, Cassandra, how do you managed to get in the middle of so much chaos? This is the second novel in the Cassandra Bick Chronicles by Tracey Sinclair. The first book, Dark Dates, was a favorite of mine and the sequel Wolf Night was just as fabulous. Cassandra is in the middle of two sexy men, evil two timing witches and hungry Shifters, oh my! Sinclair’s characters are so vivid. They work so well, I feel like I’m watching a movie or television show. I love the triangle going on between Cassandra, the fallen angel Cain and the sexy vampire Laclos. There’s a long list of reasons to pick each one and I’m so excited to see whom Cassandra picks. Oh, and can I have the man she doesn’t pick? Both Cain and Laclos are super sexy with beautifully flawed personalities. There was a great sex scene that was more sensual, it was tastefully written and a blowjob scene that had me all sorts of hot. Add in moments where I literally laughed aloud, Cass has some awesome one-liners. This book did however need another, heavy edit. There were many issues with that. The action really was fantastic too! There were some parts where my mouth hung open at certain twists and no I won’t say a peep. You must read the book to find out. I suggest reading Dark Dates before this and you will fall in love with these characters as I have! I really enjoyed this book! The plot to Wolf Night was perfection and I cannot wait to see what trouble Cassandra gets into next! Purchase HereMs. Sinclair is giving away an Ecopy to one lucky winner of Wolf Night. Dark Dates by Tracey Sinclair Genre: Paranormal, Romance Length: Novel TBR Reviewer: Brutally Honest Rating: 5 Stars – A Must Read! Heat: 2 handcuffs - Flirty. So, I now have to try to explain how amazing this book was. The story was unique. Cassandra runs a dating service for vampires. The older ones that haven’t gotten into the technology groove. She’s sleeping with a man that saved her life but only shows up every few years. He kills these ‘monsters’ and hides some serious secrets. Things go crazy, she’s being attacked at every turn, add in some funny one-liners and utterly likeable characters. This is book is perfect. Cain who slays monsters and keeps her bed warm sounds delicious. The author never quite passes that line into real sexy but stays in the ‘safe’ zone. Still the story more than makes up for the lack of heat! There was a perfect balance of story and romance. The action was intense and several times I found myself leaning forward, engrossed in the fabulous story unfolding. The side characters were very intricate and a well written heavy presence. Medea and Katie are the witch and the werewolf – sorry Wiccan and Shapeshifter (You’ll get it when you read the book.) They were PERFECTLY written. I know I keep using that word but seriously. This book is fantastic. It should be a bestseller with an upcoming movie. Dark Dates is unique and if you’re reading one book this year (which is a stupid saying but still...) read this!! Purchase Here (Seriously, Buy this book!!)Romance - novel TBR reviewer: Luta Wolf ReviewMarion isn’t running from her past, she’s hiding from it but she’s about to have to face it in a big way. Her ex is out of prison and out to get her. She can’t even spell a love potion, how is she suppose to protect herself? Her only chance is an elf with some problems of his own but he has sworn that he will protect her but first she has to learn to trust. Look how well that turned out last time. It’s a short read with an entertaining plot. The writing is a bit all over the place and slightly confusing but had a good solid pace that kept me in tune with the story. I also really enjoyed the characters. Marion is a human turned witch and a not very good witch either and to make matters worse she is very much a fraidy-cat. Her best friend and room-mate is a bit of a slut but she’s full of heart. Then we have Aidan and elf guard to the queen or he would be if he could keep his foot out of his mouth, something that never changes through out the book. The characters are flawed in such away that I couldn’t help but find them adorable. However the author could have taken the time to elaborate on some details. I didn’t always understand the world, as to whether all the humans know about the paranormal beings and how does a human become a witch? Then there was a point in the book were the ex intends to kill Marion but he wants her to put on a leather jacket and helmet before getting on the motorcycle. Is this maybe because of motorist laws or is he just a considerate killer? Despite the questions I had, it’s still an enjoyable read. I might recommend Love Potions. Purchase Here+Giveaway Erotica, paranormal - novella TBR reviewer: Shyla BlurbBeing spelled into a painting as a topless mermaid by an inept cousin couldn’t have come at a worse time for witch Kata Macska. With only seven days in which to find her mate and conceive a daughter to carry on the family legacy, she fears failure until she discovers that her fellow castaways, hunky brothers Aaron and Adam Waters, are more than willing to share her love. The brothers are at a loss to explain how they came to be marooned on a tropical island with the woman of their dreams, but they make the most of her ability to change from a mermaid to a woman at night. Though they suspect that her family is somehow responsible for their predicament, they’ve both fallen for the lovely Kata and want nothing more than to spend the rest of their lives at her side. But are they her true mates? ReviewThis is my second read by Ms. Szereto , and I have to say she hasn’t let me down yet. Two if by Sea will set your knickerson fire. (fans face.) I’m serious y’all. You might want to have some water handy. Our heroine Kata has not one, but two gorgeous men worshipping her body and tending to her heart. The best part about this yummy threesome was it was totally deserved! Kata comes from a long line of witches destined to meet their mate, and have a female child to keep their line alive. Kata is days from reaching the end of her cycle with no man in site when a spell mishap sends her and the sexy delivery man Aaron into a painting of a tropical paradise. Talk about a tough day on the job! If those circumstances weren’t strange enough, Kata has been turned into a mermaid. Aaron recovers well, and decides to explore the island, collecting food as he waits for Kata to show herself in all her mermaid glory. Aaron is stunned and relieved when he stumbles across his brother Adam whose been missing for the past two weeks. It was his disappearance that led him Aaron to the Macska’s home in the first place. Kata eventually gets over her embarrassment and begins to interact with the Waters brothers and finds they’re gentle, kind and protective. I was ready to order my own when the shine of my wedding band broke the spell. This is a quick read that hits all the right notes. It’s the perfect Calgon moment after a long day. If you haven’t read Mellanie Szereto, this is the perfect introduction. Excerpt“Please.” “Please what, Kata?” Did Aaron expect her to tell them precisely what she wanted them to do? Too hot to think. “One of you fuck me, and I want to suck the other.” She’d never spoken so crudely in her life, but these were extenuating circumstances. If they didn’t do as she demanded, she’d die. Maybe not literally. She’d lose her mind, without a doubt. Warm, moist air on her vagina caused a rush of fluid to trickle down the inside of her leg. “Everybody wins. Since Aaron is already acquainted with your lovely pussy, why don’t I take a turn?” “Yes, now. Please now, Adam. Fuck me.” He pressed his mouth to her drenched lower lips before guiding her onto the mat. Aaron followed half a minute later, minus his shorts, helping settle her head on their bed beside his impressive erection. Long and hard, with pre-cum oozing from the perfectly shaped head. The advantageous angle also gave her a close-up view of a lightly furred scrotum containing a pair of well-defined testicles. Her mouth watered, anticipating the texture and flavor of this masculine display of flawlessness. Was Adam ready yet? Flicking her gaze to her second lover, she watched as he kicked out of the clothing at his ankles. While Aaron’s cock was straight and upturned, Adam’s curved slightly to the right. It was just as ready. Her heart pounded and her pulse skipped a beat. He nudged her knees farther apart and knelt in front of her. “Are you sure you don’t need a little foreplay?” “No! I need you! Both of you, inside me!”She fought the rising panic in her chest, struggling to get enough air in her lungs. Her body couldn’t wait another moment to mate, the desire to connect with these men driving her closer to insanity. Adam lifted her feet to rest on his shoulders, lifting her ass to meet the rubbing of his dick through her wetness. Teasing her entrance, he looked toward his brother. “At the same time, Aaron.” A slick-tipped penis painted her lips with its salty juice. She opened to welcome Aaron into her mouth, and in one slow push, they entered her. The ache in her chest eased when they withdrew and plunged forward again. Finally! Her eyelids tried to close from the overwhelming relief and pleasure, but she studied the blissful expression on Aaron’s face, then Adam’s. She grasped malleable balls in one hand and a handful of muscular butt in the other. In, out, in, out. The smooth, matching rhythm took her higher with each stroke, a sense of fulfillment and connection swelling in her heart, mind, and body. Belonging. Rightness. Perfection. A pair of masculine groans pushed her deeper toward completion. Her own moans echoed in her ears. The blended melody sang to her, and the erection in her mouth grew as the one in her trembling pussy became more rigid. “Suck me, honey. Yeah, just like that. You feel so damn good.” Purchase hereContestMs Szereto is giving away a copy to one lucky winner! Comment below to enter. Contest ends November 20th.
