First, let me say that when I read the blurb of this novel the first thing I thought was that this could either be really great or really depressing. It was definitely GREAT!! I will say that I didn’t realize from the blurb that it was a paranormal and I don’t want to give away some of the more interesting surprises in the book but you won’t see much of it coming, and that’s awesome. The main and supporting characters were solid, and you will either love them or hate them (okay, loathe is probably the better word there). The ending was satisfying and worth the emotional ride that this novel brings us through.
I give this novel 5 stars for it’s ambitious and successful telling of this woman’s life-altering trials and happily ever after!

I jumped into this series and this brand new author based on the blurb. And damn, am I happy I took the blind leap. If you like shifter romance, Heather Long, is not to be missed! Missy is a hybrid shifter with no pack/pride and no clue about her species. That is until the sexy Cade shows up on her college campus and insults her. She's now thrust into the world of shifter rules, a pack takeover and her attraction to the jerk that is Cade.
I had enough time to read one chapter of this book...but two hours later, I've finished the entire story and my eyes kind of ache. Totally worth it! Missy is naive but not stupid. I loved how realistic she was. She didn't just give in but she didn't fight Cade every step of the way. It is perfectly balanced. Cade is so handsome and should never wear clothes. He is tough, alpha but also patient like a good leader. Watching these two grow to like each other is a beauty. The would building is very good. The author has hooked me and I look forward to reading more from her.
Love shifters? Read Mischief, Mongrels and Mayhem by Heather Long!
Paige's father disappears with a cryptic message and a secret bank account. Her mom remarry's into the mafia and her new stepbrother has plans of his own. One of which includes finding out what Paige is hiding.
Paige is a chunky, shy, poor girl who is totally loveable. I just wanted to scoop her up and hug tight. She is thrust into this dangerous situation and fights as best as she can. Donnie is harder to like. He does some horrible things that made me weary of liking him. He is redeemed as the story progresses. So, why not 5 stars? The first reason is the time lapses. A year passes, a month passes, ect. It's jarring and we don't get to see how Donnie and Paige bond. The second reason is the editing. I usually let that pass but this is pretty bad. Repeated phrases that are only a paragraph or two apart and odd sentences that really push me out of the story. The third and most important reason for three stars is the sex. Yup, the sex scenes are hot but 3 in a row is too much. I was bored with them and then the author added two more spread out after that.
Overall, I think Stepbrother's Debt is a good read. If you can find it on sale I'd say to give it a try!
Nothing blows a perfectly good summer like an ex messing up your plans. When freelance editor Celeste Myers must find last-minute child care for her two young boys, she fears the nanny choices left may be the bottom of the barrel. Fortunately for her, the last nanny standing turns out to be a hot young hunk of male named Dakota Nelson.
This book was like a beautiful summer breeze, sweeping you up in its refreshing warmth as you sip a cold one and say "aahh." It's no surprise to any reader that Dakota and Celeste will end up in bed together, despite their significant age gap, but like ordering a favorite sweet cocktail, you know you're still going to savor every last drop.
I'm a fan of the younger man-older woman scenario, so its heartwarming to see a happy ending and Celeste and Dakota's relationship blossom with such tenderness throughout the story. Her Dakota Summer is a book that deserves to be enjoyed from the bliss of a deck chair, with sunblock and icy drinks at the ready!
In this steampunk world at the edge of war, Mina and Leo are sworn enemies. However, they have to work together to prevent the city of humans and bluebloods (Vampires) from erupting into chaos.
Of Silk and Steam was completely a love/hate book. This is book 5 in the London Steampunk Series by Bec McMaster. Every book so far, has gotten 5 shiny stars and I usually ramble on and one about just how much I love this series. This is the last book (or so I heard). The plot is amazing but Mina ruined this story for me. She is supposed to be this tough, cold, blueblood but she continually breaks character. Leo, the love interest, draws her a bath after a big fight and she takes it. Okay, but why? Leo's involved with her father's death. At the very least, Mina should be concentrating on the Queen. Later one Leo takes Mina hostage and she doesn't fight back. Despite pages of her worry of the Queen, over the future of the world, she is forced to go with him. What happened to the tough blueblood? The romance didn't work and that kills me because I love this author and I love this series. I did enjoy the plot. The action was intense (Even if Mina's fights were only okay). The ending was fabulous! I loved the explosive twist.
My suggestion is to read the other books in the series, it's fantastic steampunk.
Perry of the the Nighthawks has a mysterious, unknown background. Her and Garrett, fellow Nighthawk, have been partners fighting crime for years. But now her past has returned and it might just get them both killed.
Flawless. There, the review is done. That's the only word to describe Forged By Desire. From the touch Perry who likes to hide her vulnerability to the sexy Garrett who recently started looking at Perry as a woman. There were characters from the previous books we got to see again. Mystery. Action. Romance. Everything was perfectly weaved together to create a flawless read!
Sam is an eighteen year old survivor of his father’s abusive upbringing. As such he had to live in secret when it came to his preferences and sexuality. This comes to a head when his father demands his future be one Sam finds distasteful, he runs away from home to seek out a new life in Hollywood. He mets Aaron in the local bathhouse and nearly faints after the equally abusive owner mistreats him. Aaron is immediately taken with him and together they discover in each other precisely what they were looking for, and the healing that can come with being precisely who you were born to be. The Hampton Road Club and his friend Saul’s organization allow for them to blossom their love from what started as fiery lust.
This is the first book in the series and my third book from this author. Once again I give this series 5 stars! I loved Sam immediately, while he knows to ask for what he needs he doesn’t top from the bottom as obviously as some of the other submissive characters I’ve read in this series. He is subtle and it’s an endearing character trait. The same can be said of Aaron. As a Dominant, he grapples with whether his feelings and preferences are deviant or just a natural part of his personality. Same helps him come to terms with this and together they both come out stronger than when they are first introduced. I love this series and the setting, as well as the attention to detail and the overall flow of the series. Another masterpiece of gay BDSM goodness!
Short, but amusing book. Cassidy has a prize-winning (literally) pooch that’s been dog-napped and turns to Diamond & Diamond PIs to help find the dog. Mike Diamond hasn’t been in the business long and gets assigned the case. He doesn’t think much of it, and much less (initially) of a woman who’d spend money looking for a dog, and so the sparks fly from the first meeting where they can’t stand each other.
It doesn’t take long for either the dog-napping case or the romance to move forward. The only part I didn’t care for was how pretty obvious it was who was behind the dog-napping. I did like the push and pull between Cassidy and Mike simply because their backgrounds were so different. It’s enjoyable and sweet. Not very spicy (aka sexy), but that’s okay. It was an engaging story and I recommend anyone who likes romance and mystery mixed together.
This book was hilarious when it came to the titular “Larry” – a little miniature pinscher who absolutely hated men. He had a real attitude and was a good protector…for a dog that weighs less than many purses do, what with all women carry around in their purses (me included).
Riya is attending the funeral of a high school classmate when she meets Jaden, in a very not-ladylike-position because of a cream incident gone very wrong. He offers some medical advice, being an EMT among other things, and gives her his card so they can talk. Larry does…bad things to the card. Very bad things. Luckily Jaden tracks her down anyway.
The mystery involved was minor, though I enjoyed seeing and finding out just who was behind the deaths. I loved the secondary character of Jaden’s mother (who really was a hoot in her own way), and seeing Jaden and Riya get together finally when everything’s solved. These two made a cute couple, er, trio with Larry. Definitely check this out if you want to giggle over the antics of a dog!
Holy tongue and teeth! Romeo, the flirty biker is caught having sex with a man and is sentenced to death in this futuristic world. To survive, his club sends him into the uninhabited parts of mars with the Underground MC. There he meets the sexy, dark chocolate, leader Justice.
Romeo is fabulous. Seriously, he is! He thinks about his dick All. The. Time. It rules his world and even when he is stuck in caves, it’s still rearing to go. Justice is a mystery. We know something bad happened being that he was a slave but when I found out what, I got all teary eyed. I wanted him to find his happy ending. These two were great together. I think the romance was a bit quick. There was tons of action and descriptions that painted the futuristic world. This series is just getting better and better. I can’t wait for the next book to see if they can take down the government and free everyone. Plus, I’m dying to find out what happens to Outlaw MC member Liam. He’s been stuck on earth in prison!
With tongue and teeth will take a bite out of you. Read it!
