Anita Blake Series #5
by Laurell K. Hamilton
Genre: Vampire. Shifter, paranormal, zombie
Length: Novel (Paperback - purchased)
TBR Reviewer: Christine K.
Rating: 3 Stars - A good Read
Bloody bones is the name of a creature. Anita is trying to keep it in it's cursed resting place. Of course that's the condensed version. There are vampire betrayals, lots of gore, rich men with secrets, fairies, more gore and a rather predictable ending.
Once I found out about the creature I knew the 'mystery' aspect of the story. I also didn't like how despite Anita's history with vampires, that she trusts this new powerful vampire because Jean-Claude told her to. It didn't make sense. And the gore seemed extra in this book. This was my least favorite book in the series so far. It seemed more about gore and shock value rather than advancing this world and Anita's future. And during the zombie raising at the end, since she didn't trust Stirling (Read it to find out who that is), where was Jean-Claude? Killer vamps, master vamps and she's raising zombies for a man she doesn't trust and no vampire backup? Why didn't Jean-Claude go with her instead of sitting in the hotel? That didn't make any sense. Anita always comes off as smart and I can't believe she'd do something like that.
I already bought the next two books so hopefully this is just a fluke in the series. Next up is - The Killing Dance.
