This Anita Blake book is about...well, this is where the four stars come in. What was it about? There was no strong plot. It was a bunch of little, really good plots kind of thrown together. There’s Musette’s (Evil vampire) visiting, Belle Morte (Evil vampire), they try to take Asher. Asher and Jean Claude are angry with Anita for the whole Asher threesome, blood suck thing. Belle sucks power from Anita and Richard. Richard is having some kind of breakdown because he’s a monster. Anita sleeps with Jason because of the ardeur (That was a really good part). A few murders show up but they’re too far apart to really call a plot. Dolph almost beats Anita up, he’s pissed his son is marrying a vampire. The mother of all darkness makes a random appearance. Her half vamp/half shifter’s are awakened. Oh and Anita is being followed.
See, little plots that were entertaining but not really cohesive. I still loved the dialogue and details. I loved the characters, of course! I say read it. Even with the big plot issue the smaller stories really make up a great book. The romance is fabulously blush worthy and more from the characters I’ve fallen in love with over the course of the series.
