Garrett is a stuck on a space station, forced at 16 to defend his planet from the faceless (aliens). He’s stuck in small barracks while training and unfriendly officers. Then a Faceless pod comes from the dark reaches of space carrying a man. Rushton is that man, a former officer who’d been taken for years by the enemy. By a series of events, Garrett is now stuck with him, even as the Faceless come closer.
Garrett! Oh, how I love him. This book is in his point of view and it’s damned entertaining. It’s also sweet and emotional and humorous. Garrett is essentially just waiting out his time on the station until his ten years are up and he can go home. Once Rushton, the lost hero, returns Garrett is the only one that can keep him alive. Rushton piggybacks Garrett’s heartbeat and an unexpected result is telepathy between the two. The ending is freaking epic! I don’t want to give anything away but that one scene I cringed and clung to the edge of my seat.
Dark Space is an epic sci fi romance that is a must read!
