The story jumps from an angel dying, talking about saving 'her' then to a man (Karrel) with a group of 'Hunters'. They're searching for a vampire he loved who turned evil. Finally we meet Kayla Steele. She's at Karrel's grave. Like I said choppy confusion. So Karrel turns out to be Steele's finace. We do eventually find out how everything is linked but it should have been more clearer and better flow during those transitions.
I instantly liked Wylie, great personality there. As for Steele her character is fantastic and really come to life with witty one liners that are worth remembering.
Then we meet Mutt. He's sweaty, bloody and still sounds hot enough to drool over. He's my favorite character throughout the whole book. That said, with all the choppy motions and everything going on it was all too much. It left questions and new characters randomly introduced. We don't know how any of it relates until later on. By page 130 I was ready to give up.
Well I trudged on and it was totally worth it. The story has twists, turns, action and even some romance. Besides I absolutely loved Mutt. He's a badass, hot, pissed off werewolf.
So, the question is - Would I get the next book in the series? Answer: Yes, yes I would. It was good story even if it was weighed down. Kayla is a wonderful character that I want to read more about.
